shutters vs wood blinds to keep the light and view outside
Comments (34)They are only three months old so look new. Absolutely no problems and the quality is very good. They operate very smoothly. I did custom order through Penney's. I first did my internet research and had several quotes online. The sales rep was able to beat all my quotes. It was nice to able to see the various blinds in person, then I brought home the sample books to match color. That proved difficult with the tiny samples but I wanted neutral and am happy with the results. You have the choice of separate head rails like I did, or a single head rail. They are easy to clean though I have not needed to yet. I haven't decided if I will put my drapes back up as I'm enjoying the clean look right now. Mine are 3/8" double cell, 40"x72". Each blind was $268 +tax. The top-down/bottom-up function does increase the price but I feel it was worth it for my application. Comments (8)You can hang the rod wider and higher than the shade, and also consider using a french return drapery rod, like this, to cover the ends. Another trick I've read about on a designer's blog is to hang one ring on the bracket that attaches the rod to to wall; that way the curtain wraps around the corner a bit and you don't have that gap. Might be a personal preference, but I like it more when the shade goes up to the same height as the rod so you don't see that piece of wall above the shade....See MoreOutside mount shade on window with decorative trim
Comments (7)Do you even have room for an inside mount? It's not clear from the picture. There is a certain width after which vendors don't recommend a single blind because that would be too wide, so maybe that's why they told you to get three instead of one. I have three on a large window and it's not too hard to get them to be open the same amount. But if this still concerns you, I like the curtain solution suggested by the previous poster. You can always have two layers with a sheer layer if you want a lighter daytime option. I think this is a nice look in a bedroom....See Morekaokeefe75
