how to balance Black & white Exterior painting
Comments (4)Was this a brick building? I see some brick at the bottom . As for the black it goes on around the windows. like the french door. Those shutters need to go and honestly how much concrete do you need for cars . I would remove all but the actual driveway to the garages Take a picture from further back too, What is the boarded up window on the upper side? IMo what this house needs is a huge amount of landscaping but I need pictures from further back and IMO if this was a brick house you just devalued it by painting not the mention the upkeep forever,...See MoreHelp with balancing asymmetric exterior window
Comments (4)Your house is not symmetrical. There is no need to move a window. I seem to be the only one who likes the shrub to the right of the double window. It looks like a Podocarpus which is one of my favorites. It responds to shearing and can be grown to any shape. I hope you would try to save it. Here is an example I found on Google images. The addition of a small tree is the most important thing in improving the landscape. Position as Yardvaark suggested. The brick is attractive and there is no need to hide it so you do not need big shrubs unless you enjoy them....See MoreSOS: How can I improve the curb appeal of this asymmetrical house?
Comments (9)We really need a better photos, especially of the porch on the right hand side. Can't really tell what's going on there. I think planting a tree out diagonally from the urn and pencil shrub could help. There's a lot of bare brick in that area that needs to be somewhat hidden, IMO. Can you stand on the right end of the house and shoot across so both porches are in the photo? That way we can see some of the depth variation and dynamics of what you're dealing with....See MoreExterior Help Please!
Comments (17)You have a lovely home, but I fully understand wanting to create symmetry. Maybe you could add a porch with a roof and entry that will cover the empty space. talk to an architect or GC.. Depending on your budget you could really transform this house... If budget is tight you could consider a false chimney or area of stone that could hide the space. But truth be told, it feels like the builder didn't finish this house... Or something was here before. What do the original house plans show? Was there once a portico of sorts or a two story porch? Maybe Stone work was here at one time but replaced Maybe there was ivy growing that created a beautiful cascade..... curios. Perhaps a front portico like this. Notice the entry way is covering the asymmetry. https://www.bhg.com/home-improvement/porch/porch/porch-additions-remodels/ https://www.houzz.com/discussions/5867067/how-to-balance-an-asymmetrical-house-exterior Houzz past post This old house curb appeal...See Moremisecretary
