Master Bedroom - Making it cohesive, choosing when commitment phobic
Comments (77)Also, we've changed some things in our kitchen/breakfast room area so that color is going lighter. Currently it's SW Colonnade, but will be changing to SW Glacial Stream. It's a similar tone, but I want to go lighter. From the kitchen, there's an opening to an area where the garage door is on the left side and the powder room door is on the right side. Here's the Cheerful door to the garage. If you don't like it, please keep your comments to yourself. I like it a lot, but it's a bit brighter than I anticipated. Note to self to always do a sample, not just hold up a swatch. I will not repaint it. It looks good, just personal preference to the brightness. The gray is Colonnade, but changing to a smidge lighter gray....See MoreWhat color should rest of furniture be?How to make everything cohesive
Comments (2)The way to make everything cohesive is to have a piece in the room with all the colors you will use throughout the space. A rug, a piece of art, a sofa -- then you take the colors from this one item and develop your decor around it. You also take it through the house and pick up the colors with accents. There are a lot of plain tiles in that batch so I can use the plain ones on the wainscoting wall. The shower is in a separate room so the room won’t look as busy. I will have mushroom color cabinets to ground the space as well. Once the cabinets and tiles are in place I can decide on the counter top....See Moremaking my rooms brighter and cohesive
Comments (27)I'd choose neutral light curtains- linen or cotton canvas in soft white. In LR- Hang as close to the ceiling as possible and allow them to stack outside the window to increase the Window's size. I'd choose an oil rubbed bronze rod for a bit of black -an old design rule- very room needs a bit of black. If curtainsxare for a sliding glass door- no valances. Valances draw the eye down and give a heavy feeling. Think airy and light. Hang as high and as wide as possible and allow them to stack the outside the glass & against wall if possible...See MoreK R
