A home bursting with joy is something you can feel the instant you walk in the door. But what is it that makes a home joyful? Certainly the mood we bring with us has a bearing on our experience of home, but the spaces we inhabit also have the power to influence us. The table beside my chair holds a very old sewing basket, a jar full of crochet hooks and knitting needles. On a floor stand with a hoop is granddaughter's practice embroidery project for her to dabble with while I'm stitching, etc. To one side of the dining room is a homemade simple loom on which we're slowly weaving our 2nd rag rug. Board games are stacked in another corner. Visiting time is doing whatever time, often switching from one to another on a whim.
It would be torture to sit and stare and the TV with motionless hands in my lap.

Fairy lights as we are now heading into fall, soft music or whatever floats your boat, and great fragrances from candles or reeded diffusers are hard to beat. Playrooms or gamesrooms are both a good idea for childrean and adults alike. Love the ideas here.
