Comments (12)Our federal centre-left government, facing an election in a couple of months, saying that we need to take global warming seriously, and saying that we need to have a tax for producing carbon that's dispersed to the atmosphere, set one up. Some provinces didn't like it, so the feds told them to set up one of their own, but if they chose to not, that the fed one would apply in their area. Four provinces, with right wing governments, saying that the feds are exceeding their authority, are taking them to court over it. The Transportation minister of this, our (largest) province, whose constituecy is nearby, was considering increasing the speed limit on our expressways from 100 km./hr. (about 62.5 m.p.h.) to about 120/130 km./hr., (about the rate that many travel, now). I thought to visit his constituency office to tell them that a number of us taxpayers are pi$$ed off at them for using precious taxpayer dollars, and the feds the same, to argue over the carbon tax in court. That many of us agree that, unwilling as many citizens are to make major changes in familiar habits, there needs to be some strong incentives put before them of the need to move away from heavy use of fossil fuels. There's a simple, easy way to bring the need for this to the attention of millions of citizens, mutiple times every week!! Put signs along every expressway, saying, "Speed limit for fossil-fuelled vehicles - 100 km. hr. ... Speed limit for non-fossil-fuelled vehicles - 120/(130?) km. hr.". Simple. Cheap. Conveys the message. ole joy-fuelled ... (which doesn't move the car far) P.S. Memo to Canadians: feel free to pass this message, or one of your choice, to your Member of Parliament/Member of your Legislature: they tend to listen more attentively prior to an election. o j...See MoreSmile today - 9/2
Comments (13)A farmer stopped by the local mechanics shop to have his truck fixed. They couldn't do it while he waited, so he said he didn't live far and would just walk home. On the way home he stopped at the hardware store and bought a bucket and a gallon of paint. He then stopped by the feed store and picked up a couple of chickens and a goose. However, struggling outside the store he now had a problem - how to carry his entire purchases home. While he was scratching his head he was approached by a little old lady who told him she was lost. She asked, 'Can you tell me how to get to 1603 Mockingbird Lane ?' The farmer said, 'Well, as a matter of fact, my farm is very close to that house I would walk you there but I can't carry this lot.' The old lady suggested, 'Why don't you put the can of paint in the bucket. Carry the bucket in one hand, put a chicken under each arm and carry the goose in your other hand?' 'Why thank you very much,' he said and proceeded to walk the old girl home. On the way he says 'Let's take my short cut and go down this alley. We'll be there in no time. The little old lady looked him over cautiously then said, 'I am a lonely widow without a husband to defend me.. How do I know that when we get in the alley you won't hold me up against the wall, pull up my skirt, and have your way with me?' The farmer said, 'Holy smokes lady! I'm carrying a bucket, a gallon of paint, two chickens, and a goose. How in the world could I possibly hold you up against the wall and do that?' The old lady replied, 'Set the goose down, cover him with the bucket, put the paint on top of the bucket, and I'll hold the chickens....See MoreSmile today - 9/2/21

Comments (11)A senior citizen drove his brand new Corvette convertible out of the dealership. Taking off down the road, he floored it to 80 mph, enjoying the wind blowing through what little gray hair he had left. Amazing, he thought as he flew down I-94, pushing the pedal even more. Looking in his rear view mirror, he saw a state trooper behind him, lights flashing and siren blaring. He floored it to 100 mph, then 110, then 120. Suddenly he thought, What am I doing? I'm too old for this, and pulled over to await the trooper's arrival. Pulling in behind him, the trooper walked up to the Corvette, looked at his watch, and said, "Sir, my shift ends in 30 minutes. Today is Friday. If you can give me a reason for speeding that I've never heard before, I'll let you go." The old gentleman paused. Then he said, "Years ago, my wife ran off with a state trooper. I thought you were bringing her back." "Have a good day, sir," replied the trooper. Rusty...See More- 6 years ago
