Making progress! Busy day so far. Second coat of paint, one hockey game, interior and exterior window cleaning, and some more pictures. New color is BM Aura shimmer. It reads blue in real life, almost a matching blue to the Vancouver Day, in a good way. I don't find it conflicts next to the brown tile. The white paint is much better I think but I think the trim work needs work. I still think the windows are a little top heavy, especially with the top trim piece. It could be more rectangular. That said, there are a lot of rectangles in this view. Perhaps something to introduce a curve? I spent some time last night looking at window trim on Houzz. Thanks for the comments. I like all your advice and really expected people to tell me to go with the smoke and not white. I am posting images of the two tiles . To answer epressler's question the smoke subway tile is not glass but a crackled finish just like the off white subway tile. Yes, the granite does have a small amount of white flecks in it but since the kitchen is so dark with not much afternoon sun, the counters look and feel darker than the photo I posted. I know some under cabinet lighting would help but I am not going to have lights on during the day so that is one reason for the white subway tile idea. I like subway because most of the kitchens I admire use it. Most of the kitchen I admire also have a lot of white either in marble or painted cabinets. I feel like I did not choose very traditional countertops but my taste is traditional and my long term plan is to keep the cabinets forever and just think about painting them white someday when they start looking old. I also like dianalos comment about the valances. I chose the ones I did because I love oranges and yellows but maybe I should look into finding a new fabric that is not so dark and your comment about needing to go with white tile to change the effect seems spot on. The new images I am posting of the tile samples don't show the crackle finish but you will see one is much deeper and the bevel stands out...that one is also $30/sq. ft. ...the white one is only 12.99/sq. ft. and the bevel is not as neat but the white is crackled and almost a little iridescent. Go to a local flooring place and grab samples to lay down in your lighting with your colors. I also feel like some more information would be helpful here... Are there any other colors to consider - dining room walls, etc. as well as adjacent flooring (entry, hall, etc)? What is your style and the style of the existing home? Would you consider actual hardwood as opposed to LVT? Onscreen your cabinets look very peachy - is that a pretty accurate color representation? Is painting the cabinetry an option? I would include some more pictures of the whole space.

ok. that wasn't at all what I expected. glad you posted. I would urge you to wait until everything is installed before choosing a tile. things have a way of looking differently once installed. but you can get some samples ordered so they'll be on hand. first thing i'd suggest is make sure your light bulbs are in the 4000K for the truest light. even in your sample picture it looks like there is a pinkish cast on the cabs. I wouldn't do a bright white, or really a white of any kind. maybe a very pale gray or gray to pick up the color in the granite. I also love black. so here are some tile styles and colors this is another poster on here who had Cosmos granite. she did Basalt tiles Cle Tiles, Zelliege. love these too (they come in subways) DalTile Horizons, in Moonlight. (below) this is a beautiful dusky gray glass tile. I'd for sure get this as a sample. Cle'tile Modern farmhouse.
