I just had the V&A Antibes installed (LOVE IT!!), keeps nice and warm during a bath. I was not able to see it before purchasing and was very concerned about ordering it online also, but the cost difference was a huge factor for me. I ordered it from qualitybath.com and it was such a smooth transaction. It comes by frieght and they did an awesome job keeping me updated. The tub came on a pallet, in a giant box and was wrapped in foam and heavy duty saran wrap stuff. I did unpack it down to the foam and saran wrap to check that it wasn't damaged upon arrival. No scratches, nothing. It looks great installed and feels silky (best description I can give). But i do highly reccommend Quality Bath, we ordered all of our faucets and fixtures and sinks from them and they did a great job keeping us updated with delivery times. They are also very friendly on the phone too as tub had to be ordered via phone call. Good luck!

The drain unscrews from the assembly below the tub. Normally the drain and overflow are all one assembly. If you have access to the back/underside of the tub it's a lot easier, because you can control both the drain basket from the top and the nut that captures the threads on the basket from below. However, you can try to replace the basket just using access from above. Easiest way is with a tool called a "basket wrench": An inexpensive basket wrench costs maybe $5 to $10 at a hardware store. You can see how this would lock on to the cross pieces in the basket and allow you to rotate the basket counterclockwise to unthread it. Or you can use the standard DIY method which is to insert two sturdy screwdrivers into the basket, one at the 9 o'clock position and one in the 3 o'clock position, and cross the screwdrivers and use that leverage to rotate the basket. Once the basket is removed, clean the tub surface and install a new basket using a bead of plumbers putty. I will say that the proper way, and the best way, is to have access from below. It's best to set the basket into the putty and then secure it by rotating the nut from below instead of rotating the basket from above.

So happy to find this thread. I am deciding on a tub and was interesting in the V&A because of the material and that I generally like Rohl products. Mine will be a drop-in. I am looking at the Rossendale because it is longer (I have long legs) and it has a deep water overflow - also important when you are tall so that the top half of you doesn't get cold. I guess I was wondering if the material held the heat - I don't want to get a heater, like Kohler has. If not the V&A, I am not sure but I get the feeling that cast iron is better than acrylic or fiberglass for holding heat? I was happy to read that zookeeper93 says her tub has held up well. Plan2remodel, can you tell me why you like your Devon&Devon tub?

I had an acrylic pedestal tub in my last home, it was beautiful but it did not retain heat as long as I would like. Also it had to be reinstalled and I think they put some type of foam/cement in the base and then it did not budge at all. I also need to make a decision on a tub in the next two weeks and I will likely go with a pedestal acrastone tub ( American Bath Factory Nob Hill) . My first choice would be a victoria albert elwick if I had the space, I need 60" and I can not find a pedestal style I like in a 60" length with this company. Please post what you decide to go with.
