Oshun--do you grow it?
Comments (8)Piggy backing a bit on the thread, I wonder what the experience of "Oshun" raisers (especially neighbor Jim) is with mature size. I've got Oshun in a pot as part of this years collection of bands, and uniquly Oshun already has a heft and structure that more resembles a miniturized Oak tree, than a "typical" rose. It's multi-limbed and extremely sturdy. Makes me think it is going to want to get HUGE. Not that I'm complaining, I just want to plant it in an appropriate location. Cheers, Bill...See Morecincy_city_garden - RE: Oshun
Comments (6)Hey Eric, what great blooms and pics! Mine never did open up and look like that. I just went out and looked at both of my shrubs and they have pretty much quit blooming for the season. They just had a few balled-up blossoms left. It's been consistently dropping down into the 40s and even the upper 30s at night, so a lot of the roses have started to cycle down. One of the Oshuns has some pretty long canes and I'm wondering how it's going to look next summer when it gets some more growth. Are you going to add a tripod or trellis or just wait and see how big it gets? I haven't done the tripod thing yet so I'm not sure how to proceed. Any hints would be appreciated :). -terry...See MoreOshun, what can you tell me
Comments (16)Hi Carla! Good to hear from you too! No new babies yet....they will start in March. I slipped in the barn on a broken feed bucket handle [hard to believe, I know] and am recovering from knee surgery, broken patella. What a misery this is but I am being good, mostly, and thinking ahead to spring by ordering from Vintage and Sequoia today, and planted my 4 from Roses Unlimited last week - amazing what one can do when you are determined! Am due some pretty babies from appaloosa father, and some other nice ones. Havent updated the website yet, but plan to this winter. Working on Roses Unlimited order now......and more also! Am going to hire some help to get new beds in.....planning for roses makes the time go by faster. If you dont have Oshun, you should get it. Your photos of Lillian Austin were gorgeous, that is one of my very favorite Austins.....with Carding Mill being another. I have ordered Tea Clipper, along with Darcey Bussell and Sister Elizabeth.....looking forward to picking those up in February in Tyler, and hitting Chamblees! Happy Holidays to you, Carla, and everyone else! Judith...See MoreAnyone growing Oshun?
Comments (8)On HMF it appears that it will be quite a large shrub, 5 to 7 feet, and the one full-plant photo there does appear to show a good-sized bush. I can't decide whether I like it as well as Abraham Darby; it seems to have a deeper color than AD, which could be a plus or not. I like more subtle tones in my garden, but at any rate I'll look forward to seeing yours in bloom, erasmus....See Morebayarea_girl_z10a_ca
