Color Zen, that’s kind of what I was thinking. Make the call after the cabinets are in on the few other pieces of trim at window & the other 2 entryway door trim. But for now crown to match cabs so that’s one down! Thx!

Ok you color guru’s does the White Duck and Edgecomb Gray work together? The Edgecomb is going on the walls(White Duck cabinets) and I believe it’s the only paint that hasn’t been purchased yet so not too late to change. Thanks!

We have 2 full floors of our house in Edgecomb Gray (with the exception of the living room).

Both floors also have a ton of windows (mostly facing south). Trim color is Vapor (AF-35 Benjamin Moore Affinity), a creamy white, that brings out the warmer side of Edgecomb (often described as griege).

The light in your space will determine how your colors will look individually and together. Why not stay with only one white?

One more question for the OP. If you haven't purchased the Edgecomb Gray yet, do you know which line of paint and finish (eggshell?) you are planning to use for your walls?

Hi Mary Elizabeth- yes I only want one crisp white for all the trim in the whole house(except where it will make my cabinets look dingy) but I don’t want white walls. I thought the Edgecomb Gray would be a nice off white like a pale khaki(greige) Just hoping the stark white won’t be too contrasting. The rooms will have a good bit of natural light( South facing house) so hoping it will all look good together. Everyone says do paint samples and see it in your homes lighting but in a new build with no lighting yet installed it makes it much harder!

Jazz Lover, the Edgecomb Gray has worked very well. It is just enough contrast with the white trim to make it look rich, but still neutral enough for decorating and feels relaxed. It is a very versatile color.

A word of caution regarding Benjamin Moore paints - there is a huge difference between their less expensive and higher end paint lines. I encourage you to use the most expensive they have for your trim and walls. You will not regret it!

Thanks Mary Elizabeth for the info. My builder uses strictly Sherwin Williams and will be color matching the 2 or 3 BM colors that I chose. Yes I agree paint isn’t always paint! We painted a lot ourselves in previous houses and there is a huge difference. Also, I wanted flat on the walls but hubs has nixed it as we just added a grand baby to the mix and he’s looking for easier touch ups. I agreed but reluctantly. Can’t wait to see how it all comes together!! Will post pics(if successful outcome!-lol)

I've never seen a Sherwin Williams match to BenM's Super White that I thought was good enough to call it "match". You may have a different opinion - you might love the custom match. But I recommend you stipulate in your contract that you have to approve the SW color match to Super White and if they can't match it to your satisfaction, then he's going to have to get it from Benjamin Moore.

I can only speak to the comparison of White Duck to the original BenM Super White, not the SW color match. There is a generous difference in terms of Chroma between the two colors. That means it's unlikely either will make the other look dingy.

They're very similar. White Duck is slightly lighter and more neutral, less colorful. Edgecomb is the darker of the two and has more color. They're most similar in terms of hue family.

You're either going to love it or you're not. In certain low light moments you might not be able to tell they're two different colors.

I agree about SW not matching BM colors. To save myself a 75 mile round trip I had the local SW match my choice. When we later painted the MBR with the BM, the difference was startling. I insisted my painter use BM and I happily drove the trip to supply the paint from BM.

Ok-noted. Right now they are just priming everything. Will see how the match is on the color match and if not happy will insist.Will post pics when all is done! Fingers crossed! Thanks so much everyone!!

Just seeing this post as I am currently debating painting our kitchen cabinets with SW White Duck and walls with BM Edgecomb Gray. Are you happy with how it looks?
