Are all the floors tile in your whole house? If they are those will for sure drive the color scheme. I love gray but you need to be careful you don’t end up living in a gray box.

Gray is on the way out and will appear dated in no time. Select something more timeless.

I wish those who remind us that gray is on it’s way out would then offer a constructive alternative.

Gray is still being done in the multi million dollar range in the NYC area and suburbs. All one has to do is google.

Gray is a good color for many reasons but I don’t think you will do your particular kitchen any favors by introducing gray. The one thing you are not changing is the cabinets. Try googling the combination you are considering and see if any inspiration photos come up.

i personally don’t like gray with your wood tone. My favorite is white cabinets as Beverly posted with very light gray backsplash.

Hopefully color mavens will chime in and offer other color ideas.

So yes the floor is all tile but I was planning to change those to either a dark or grey vinyl floor. I love the grey as well but that is exactly my fear too much grey to where it like living in a big grey box lol

@BeverlyFLADeziner i was thinking to just go with white or Dark cabinets as well. Then I can do Greige walls and idk what colors floors would match. But my worry with white cabinets is the kids dirtying them up all the time I have toddlers. Or the dark cabinets making the room look dark?

It's not that ALL GRAY is on the way out, it's just that installation where there is fake gray wood flooring with gray walls and cabinets. You end up in another dead-end box with nowhere to go in the future.

Gray only on base cabinets out of kids' reach. White cabinets on top to keep the space bright. It's important to find a kitchen image for your inspiration to keep your goal in sight IMO.

This is a kitchen from last years Parade Homes and shows what I have been seeing in new design pics. It has the white cabinets, a touch of gray, but overall leans warm which means it would be much easier to incorporate a similar style into your already warm space. It might not be your style, but a thought:

This is totally not what you are thinking, but someone recently posted a question about a kitchen with green / gray cabinets and everyone loved the kitchen! This is not the kitchen, but if you like grays but want to work with your warm space, I love this color - I also love that not everybody has this kitchen:

I’ve seen black islands with super light gray cabinets for all others and think it looks amazing. Gray is so easy and a fresh clean slate. One thing to consider is warm vs cool colors. When we were building our house I kept picking cool grays. I realized that everything we own is warm colors. I pivoted a little in colors to a warmer gray - we have knotty alder cabinets which are warm tones, and managed to find a flooring that was light enough but still warm. Gray is not bad. Just factor in the rest of your house too! Beautiful kitchen - floor plan looks awesome, updated colors will be spectacular. You do have space between ceiling and cabinets - have you considered adding the cabinet to go the ceiling that is glass front with a light in it? I always love that look - adds brightness but also warm & cozy somehow. I always love the way it looks with white or light gray cabinets too!

One more thought. Consider removing the over the range microwave and putting in a pretty hood, possibly removing the cabinets above the micro as in the post above. You presently have a wall of wood, which will be replaced by wall of painted cabinets. If breaking them up with a hood is not enough or desirable, consider replacing the center panel of some cabinets with glass or removing some altogether, or replacing one set with small amount of open shelving - for decor only.
