So do I see a hint of lavender in the print? I was looking at paint samples the other day because my 20 year old grand daughter wants to have her at home room painted a greyed-lavender (she is in college). I ran across a color called vintage pearl which is a pale color, maybe not bright enough for what you want. The mobile probably wouldn’t go, but you could perhaps start with that chip and go darker with accent pillows and tie backs on the curtains.

I find myself liking the lavender also in combo with teal or other colors. And yes I would change the knobs once you figure out the colors.

With the primary colors in the print and the mobile, I'm assuming your daughter doesn't want an overly feminine nursery. If so, I find the following color combinations a good starting point... Yellow... aqua... coral... These are all images from Target's nursery collection. (They have a great "gender neutral" selection.)

I'm getting sort of a Marimekko,Ikea vibe. Would they do wallpaper?

Since babies are stimulated by high contrast, I would probably stay with white on the walls and perhaps do one wall in chalkboard/magnetic paint. I love the print and the mobile. I would add find fabric with a pattern in bright primary colors for the pillow. Definitely find some cute pulls/knobs for the dresser and ball fringe or tassels for the leading edge of the draperies.

@OutsidePlaying, I see that hint of lavender too, but I don’t recall if the print shows it. We opened it up, saw that it was what it was supposed to be, handed it to the movers, and it has been in storage ever since!

@Feathers11, those are cute sets! It will be a year or so before the new baby can have a blanket in the bed with her, if IIRC from the twins. In the meantime, she will probably use the hand-me-down gray sheets from the twins. I do need to get her her own monogrammed Little Giraffe blanket, though. Girl has cream, Boy has blue. Maybe Baby Girl needs aqua.

I was looking back at my niece’s dorm room this morning. Her first year it was decorated in yellow, aqua, and coral with a gray duvet cover. Until you said it again, Feathers11, I had not put 2+2 together and realized I really liked that color scheme. For a dorm room, her mom used VERY vibrant colors, but I think it would work in a nursery muted just a tad.

@mtnrdredux_gw, Marimekko is a great idea. I’ll need to see what is available. DD got into the Scandinavian vibe when she lived in MN and she loves Marimekko. I totally forgot about it. Two months ago, I would have said DD would not do wallpaper. However, the house they are buying has wallpaper in all the bathrooms and down the back hall. She is keeping the back hall paper (she likes its vintage feel), but she is having the bathrooms re-papered. Boy’s bathroom is probably going to be airplanes; he’s obsessed. Baby Girl and Girl share a Jack and Jill bathroom. I don’t know what she has in mind there, but continuing the Marimekko paper could be fun.

@Fun2BHere, ball fringe for the curtains would repeat the circles on the print! Maybe aqua. I think Feathers11 has gotten me thinking down an aqua road. The primary colored kite mobile may have to go in the playroom!

How fun!!! Congrats on your new grand baby! I’m no help bc I did my nurseries in very soothing soft colors...mine were only in there when asleep, and if they weren’t actually asleep...I wanted them to be asleep and not stimulated. 😂 But your nursery looks like it will be joyful and fun...I am sure it will bring a smile to whoever goes in there.

@nini804, I hear you and understand what you are saying. And agree. But DD keeps it pitch black when they are asleep. At least she did with the twins.

@Fun2BHere, the pillow cover with the pom pom fringe is in my basket. I’ve sent it to DD and asked if she wants to veto, but I think it is perfect! I’ll buy it unmonogrammed and have it monogrammed here. I haven’t been pleased with the monogramming from PB in the past.

How does she feel about an IKEA hack on the dresser? DD2 purchased the white washed dresser like the one you posted. Filled holes, painted and added long pulls. She followed a blogger's direction for the painting steps. There are numerous bloggers that wrote about the hack, but she narrowed down to one by reading a lot. Let me know if she's interested and I'll find out which guidelines she followed.

@Allison0704, Please get the instructions from you daughter. I think mine is going to keep the chest white, but it’ll be good to have for future reference.

DD doesn’t really “do” color. In her old house, the sofa was white, the chairs were beige, the bed linens were white with a pale blue monogram, and the walls were Gray Owl. I think she is still trying to recover from the trauma I inflicted on her one summer. She returned home from summer camp and I had had her room painted deep coral and all of the soft surfaces were covered in this Collier Campbell print and the coordinating royal blue and white stripe. (It was really ghastly.)

Mtn recommended using decals in a nursery and I WISH I had listened! The cute print over the nursery table had to go as soon as my guy could sit up.

@robo (z6a) I hear ya! DD put shelves over the twins’ changing table with a bear she had been given as a baby and a rag doll I was given as a child, plus some books, their silver piggy banks, and a lamp. The shelves soon had to be cleared off. I’ll mention the decals to her. From experience, she may just leave the wall blank over the changing table.

I LOVE primary colors for a nursery. Stick with those in the fabulous art she bought. Wimsey is fun but other's prefer a more sophisticated vibe. It's all about what they want in their home. I would be searching for Dr. Seuss's book about the critter whose spots came on and off, if I were grandma!! The knobs could certainly be EASILY swapped out--but keep them for later when the child grows up. I would not be tempted to follow the Dalmatian theme--I would go circus, focus on the COLOR!!

@arcy_gw I think I found the book on Amazon. It isn’t Dr Seuss, but it looks like it is. And there is a Cat in a Hat on the cover, so there is some sort of connection. It comes in board-book format. I’m buying it for Baby Girl!

@carolb_w_fl_coastal_9b, I couldn’t find those knobs, but I found some wooden ones on Etsy that are cute and come in many colors. I like the ones you found better, but I think the wooden ones might be safer for a while until Baby Girl gets good at walking (first step is still at least 6 months away).

Super cute! Babies are stimulated by high contrast, maybe paint the walls in the light blue from the print and the yellow? For the dresser I have two recommendations:

1) SECURE IT TO THE WALL. We have the same dresser. We took the back off and fixed the dresser to the wall with an L-bracket.

2) Babies love to look at themselves. Instead of artwork, why not a mirror over the dresser? You can super secure it with mirror clips and baby can look at herself during changes.

I like gliders because they are super comfortable, but... four more recommendations!

1) Put a small table near the glider/rocker so that Mom has a place to put stuff.

2) She needs a footstool. My glider came with one.

3) SLIPCOVERS. My glider got filthy. I vowed that next time I would get two sets of washable slipcovers.

4) Dutalier. My behind felt the difference between the Dutalier and the other brand in our house!

Thanks, RG! Good observations. The rocker-recliner is a given. It was in the twins’ nursery. It was bought at a nursery boutique and has high-performance velveteen upholstery. Trust me, the twins tested it‘s stain resistance every way imaginable and it held up beautifully!

DD’s contractor from the old house is going to come spend a week at the new house (fortunately, DD and DSIL only moved 200 miles, so contractor guy is willing to travel!). He is going do things like install the Nest cameras, strap chests to walls, hang curtains, etc. He’s a treasure!

Until you mentioned it, I totally forgot. DD uses a blue table next to the rocker recliner.

I also had a Dutalier glider in my nursery. It got me through three babies and now sits proudly in my living room. The cushions were easily replaceable. Yes, the book was from the Cat and the Hat series that is mostly Dr. Seuss but not all. I always found that curious. We refinished an older solid maple serving butler, hand me down from MIL for the nursery. DH built a changing table "tray" that sat on top, that brought baby up to a comfortable height for us to change diapers. I cringe when I hear "bolt it to the wall" gosh the light weight junk that is made--not only flimsy but DANGEROUS. It's sad.

@arcy_gw, I agree about the lightweight junk, but I think the recommendation now is to anchor all furniture to the wall if there is a small child in the house. Congrats on the new baby. What a coincidence I bought the same canvas art for my granddaughter at Homegoods! Well it is another version of yours the dots are in front of the dog and the colors more turquoise, pink and yellow and the dog is wearing sunglasses. She is 10 and loves dogs. Just saw her new room and it was painted a very pale grey and had pink linens. I suggested to her if she wanted more pink in her print she could just paint more dots, it had a bit little textured with acrylic paints. Hpave fun with the new baby.
