Comments (63)Loobab, Thank you :)I am glad you like it. My husband and I were watching a young lady making one similar to this, and we just couldn’t leave without buying one. I love the idea about posting a thread when I am all settled and everything is out of the box, but I am not sure. I am quite a private person and don’t feel too comfortable posting photos of my home on public forums (I do admire and I am very grateful to those who do). But I will consider it, though :)) Ingrid, thank you for clarifying it for us. I would have been very surprised and sad if that had been the case. I really appreciate your candor :)...See MoreNeutralize my red and gold decor....how do I decorate around my sofa?
Comments (3)I’m not a designer but I think your instincts are right. If everything else is super light I agree the sofa will look too dark and heavy. I think a light, warm neutral paint would be great, and accents of blue would make that gold sofa sing. I think your existing neutral walls look okay, actually. What if you just tried painting the red accent wall a nice mid tone blue?...See MoreDecorate around this...... Antique Armoire
Comments (19)Hey OB2B, Good to see you posting. We are downsizing and none of the rooms are massive. It is a very modest house. The Master bedroom is 13.5x12 (ish) Fortunately DH and I sleep in a queen. Looking for a bed is very preliminary as first we need to get the house built and then I have to get window treatments, then I have to prioritize furniture to be purchased and most likely the master bedroom wont be high on the list. This is why I have a DIY upholstered headboard; the master doesnt often make the top of the list. LOL I dont post too much about the build. There is quite a bit of snark on the forums these days. It's a net zero house, it doesnt look traditional and that get's a bit of ire. Sometimes I am just not in the mood to deal with it. Let them spew their venom on someone else. BC and UMO -awesome. Go Black Bears! We have a friend who plays football there, and of course know several students. If he ever needs anything, let me know. My oldest was at University of Pittsburgh, just completed his second year but he is taking next year off, and will decide if he wants to return or transfer. The youngest is off next year to Connecticut College, it's in New London- has a lovely campus that was once an arboretum so his tree loving mama is very happy....See MoreHelp! Decorating around my fireplace - struggling!
Comments (30)Just a thought, have you considered adding built-ins/floating shelves around the fireplace? You mentioned reading. You could fill up the built-ins with books/memorabilia and imo would look great. Yes to a art piece above the fireplace, no clock. Huge yes to adding greenery around the space in general. Go with your most recently added photo with the chairs positioned around the coffee table! Looks great. I would upgrade the chairs to modernize + match your couch a bit better if you have it within your budget to do so. I would consider leather to add texture + warmth. I would also consider a coffee table with a smaller footprint, consider a slimmer rectangular one to provide more space to walk through on each side, as well as adding some type of credenza or floating shelf like the other user suggested to give the tv wall that something it’s missing. :)...See Morebbstx
