Comments (15)Resin, thanks for the ID's. I don't have pics of the cone, but I'll try to take some this week. The cones were large, compared to L. decidua, about 4 cm long. Dax, I'm sure some beer and a boat are a great combination, I just didn't have enough time Wadet, sorry, but I don't have any other shots of that GS Wisconsitom and kman04, it's Glacier National Park in Canada. Yes, it is very interesting to see those two species growing there, isolated from the main distribution range. Coralbelle, the glacier still there, just a bit higher in the pic. They are shrinking extremelly fast, I was astounded to see how quick the Athabasca glacier shrinks osprey...See MoreMy 'M' Assignment
Comments (6)Great picture Carol. I have a funny story about a mountain sheep probably on the exact same road you saw this one - I was driving around those bends so slowly and cautiously as I was afraid of hitting any of the wildlife that abounds there. I was so intent on the road in front of me that I didn't notice one of these guys on the cliff above. What a shock to see those huge horns in the passenger window as he lept from the cliff down into the road, literally right into the side of our rental car! Fortunately, he appeared unhurt, albeit a little dazed....See MoreBusy Weekend in Windsor
Comments (10)Enjoy your weekend, Anne. Give our regards to your sister ... I hope tat she can change her outlook to being more positive about her current situation. Hi MarieND, I was surprised to hear that you were near Windsor ... as I thought that you live in North Dakota ... which, last I heard, was quite a long way from southern Ontario. Maybe the tectonic plates that lie under the continents have been moving again! Actually, Windsor is south of Detroit (well, south-east), that surprises many, but the Detroit River runs south-west in that area, between Lake St. Clair and Lake Erie. If you have a Road Atlas, check the south-western end of Ontario or the Michigan map, especially Michigan cities. Did you get the same snow that southern Alberta and Saskatchewan did a few days ago? Said to result from weather disturbances in Montana and Wyoming. ole joyful...See MoreIt doesn't get more Canadian than this
Comments (8)I saw the guy being chased on the highway, on FB, then later on the news. I think it was near Revelstoke. I'm glad passing vehicles helped this poor guy. I always wondered about the bicyclists when I see them on their bikes in the mountains. One would hope they're armed with bear spray just in case. There's a lot of places where you have nowhere to go if a bear is behind you. Mountain on one side, cliff on the other....See Morelocaleater
