Azaleas need moist well-drained soil. If the roots get dry, the leaves will droop or in the hear of a hot day they will droop also. If the roots are in a wet condition with poor drainage, the plant will get a fungal disease that also makes the leaves droop, drop, and eventually kills the plant. Full sun is more of a problem in winter. They respond well to full sun in summer when they are forming next years flower buds. Here is a link that might be useful: How to grow azaleas

Thanks so much! You know, sanding veneer is such a bugaboo, that I was afraid to do it, but a gentle sand with a 180 grit or so would have made all of the difference. Oh well, next time! :) Oh, and for anyone wondering, the Formby's "low gloss" really wasn't for me. I don't know if it was the shellac underneath, or the first few coats done with high gloss, or what, but that dull satin sheen only came from lots and lots of rubbing. Now if anyone has staining advice, I could use some help. I'm trying to stain a set of unfinished chairs to match, and there is glue residue all over the chair backs. I tried a light sanding, and those areas still won't take a stain. Short of more vigorous sanding, any clever ideas how to remove that glue? I didn't plan on painted chairs, but that's what they'll be if I can't fix it.

Well that would be a lot of expense and rather” last ditch attempt” if you resorted to a complete cabinet paint job because of shades in a floor. i would not do that. The area is small . Spend a little and get larger runners in a grayed out pattern or subdued anything . You can probably find a larger oval in a flat weave you can run a Hoover shark over if you can’t lift it and shake it out which is what I do w the smaller sized mats. There are rug suppliers (easy )on the internet you can get exact sizes in durable material and appropriate backing. Couple hundred bucks . You’d want mats /runner anyway so do that first . Paint expense/option can always be put back on the table at any point in the future. Who knows maybe you will redo the whole thing in 5 yrs .

it's busy, so choose really simple accessories. towels and bath mats that have zero pattern to them. I like the black faucets above. consider also a black matte framed mirror with a very simple frame. try a round or arched mirror for a change. OR try a square mirror hung diagonally, to match the tile pattern. it might look great, or it might look cheesy. you could always rehang or return it! and then take a breather and give yourself some time. you might be overwhelmed because it's so new and different. the pic you posted is of a dusty, unfinished room with blue and red tape all over the place. it's going to look so much better when it's finished and cleaned up.
