About to start new build...
Comments (8)Intermatic's system is fairly basic. They don't make additional pool equipment such as pumps, filters, etc... like the other manufacturers, the extended warranties the system builders offer, the tighter, built-in integration, make the Intermatic system sort of a odd man out. For those augmenting existing systems with only basic needs, the Intermatic system seems to have a better shot at winning some business. The Phantom is fascinating to watch in action. AFAIK, it is still the only sweep that skims also. However, when skimming, the jet that propels it will knock items down to the floor that are on either side and behind the unit. I prefer to see a sweep stay on the floor and let the pool's skimmer(s) do the skimming. It does have a lot of parts inside and is not always easy to repair. The hose uses small sections of flexible tubing between hard sections of pipe. The constant flexing in the same place is problematic. Eventually, the flexing will take it's toll and that section will need replacing due to leaks, cracking, tears, etc... Scott...See MoreNew pool build started in SoCal, looking for tips
Comments (6)Really nice yard I wish I had the space you do... I recently am on the finishing end of my pool remodel here in SoCal as well and well we had many bumps in the road so I can relate. I did add some Lumar deck jets and yes every where we looked they were crazy expensive but we really wanted them... so I just happened to come across some used ones on craigslist for supper cheap. Now that we have them installed there is one thing they look really nice but they do make a lot of noise it's not like the soft water fall sound. Just thought you should keep that in mind. But I was told that there is some other deck jets that don't make any noice as the water enters the water but I found out that a little to late... As we did our remodel we would shop around on craigslist and ebay for cool item to add to our pool that otherwise with our contractor would have been crazy expensive. Keep the pictures coming and any questions. By the way what company is doing your pool?...See MoreCan you envision my LR painted green?
Comments (69)Well, I'm full of enchiladas at the moment so I think I'm too sluggish to paint. I've finished two walls (took a total of 8 hours - I used to paint faster than this, must be getting old!) and am thrilled with the new color. It really makes me go "eww, ugh" at the two old golden-brown glazed walls. The old color now reminds me of a dirty diaper, so I'm very eager to get the room finished! Off to try a pot of tea now. Maybe that will wake me up and get me moving again....See MoreClosing on a new build home, overwhelmed, please help me decorate
Comments (12)I want to put a table and chairs there but it looks like the builders installed the light fixture off centered. I suspect they placed it off center to allow for a walking space between the dining table and the island. If you don't care for the fixture -- and I don't either, so plain, doesn't coordinate with the island pendants -- change it, but I would not change the location. Furthermore, if you change the location, you'll probably have to "swag it", and I doubt that's the look for which you're searching. I recommend moving in and actually placing your dining furniture to determine the scale and room needed. Good advice. Go ahead and place your existing table ... then you can judge whether you need something larger /smaller /different shape. Do Nothing now. That "dining space " is too small to be considered one, unless a table for two under the window. Oh, come on. It's not a huge space, but it can certainly hold more than a two-top....See Moredecormyhomepls
