Glass mosaic bathroom tile for Calamity J...
Comments (13)Queen of the bathroom!!! ha ha ha ha...gee thanks. This bathroom is our one and only...not easy to remodel with a family of 4 let me tell ya. The wall tile is Hakatai Ashland 1"x1" in Burnt Amber. The floors are 4"x4" red limestone with the glass inserts. The granite was the biggest pain. They wouldn't split the slab so we had to buy the whole thing. Only needed less than 1/3 of the slab. So what do you do with a big piece of rock? You beg your other half to build a piece of furniture! His first one. I think he did a great job :o) A note about the paperface tile: It came in 1'x1' sheets, but because of the weight I sliced them into 6"x6" manageable pieces. The first few sheets I had the thinset squishing through too, but knew I'd never finish having to scrape the groutlines out. So started to backbutter the tile instead...sped things up immensely. Comments (2)We put a glass mosaic above our range that was thin like that. We were doing marble subway tile everywhere else and the thicknesses didn't match up. I don't know the specifics I would have to ask my tile guy, but I do know that we replaced the drywall and put in cement board over the range which is thicker and then I think he built it up just a little with grout. It looks great and is all even. Sorry I couldn't be more help!...See More1 5/8' x 1 5/8 ' Glass Tile
Comments (4)Root Beer...I have a sample from Modern Tile Studio. They're lighter than the dark Amber tiles Jodi used, but those are no longer available anywhere in the USA. I've linked to the page with them...far right column, on the bottom. HTH! Here is a link that might be useful: Modern Tile - Root Beer...See More1 inch glass mosaic backsplash?
Comments (6)I'm thinking "otters" was meant to be "outers," as in perimeter. That would mean an island with white cabs and the U-shaped perimeter in dark cabs. The counters will be concrete with a marble look. On the first question of using 1" tiles on all the backsplash of a U-kitchen, I don't think I would. To me it seems like a lot of "noise" on the walls - it might seem claustrophobic. Maybe in a larger format? Here are a couple of greens in a slightly larger format tile. It might be better to break that block of solid color up with something else. One way is to choose a tile that has multiple colors like the ones EAM44 posted, but in your green tones. Another is to use the green as a 3, 4 or 6" strip running through a more neutral tile. Here's one with a double strip: [Contemporary Kitchen design[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/contemporary-kitchen-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_709~s_2103) by Dc Metro Design-build Case Design/Remodeling, Inc.
