Kitchen Backsplash Help

We renovated our kitchen back in April of last year and now we are ready to install a backsplash. My question is, should I extend the backsplash onto the adjacent full wall to the left ? And if so, should I go half way up to height of back splash or all the way to the ceiling?

Your cabinets don't go to the ceiling so I wouldn't go to the ceiling with backsplash. Do you have more photos of the wall?

I'm not entirely sure what you mean. The image shows an L-shaped work area with an island. Your L has very natural starting and stopping points for the backsplash. I wouldn't extend it beyond the cabinets at either end, and I would tile only the wall between upper and lower cabinets.

Some cautions about some things you mention: - white glass tiles can very easily end up looking green-y or blue-y ([this thread is one example[(https://www.houzz.com/discussions/white-glass-backsplash-does-not-look-white-dsvw-vd~820386) - you can see in one photo the difference between the unmounted tile and the mounted tile) - dark grout is very eye catching, so it's suuuuper important that the tiler is a meticulous sort - otherwise the dark grout just highlights all the wobbles and uneven grout thicknesses (that are a lot more common than you might think, but due to light grout, your eye doesn't immediately notice) - Be sure to plan for how you'll finish the edges where the tiles don't end at cabinets (ie peninsula/next to pantry) - schluter strip? Bullnose tile? - makes your life so much easier if you know before you buy your tile Can you post a couple/few pictures of kitchens that you like? Tiles that you like? Also, what is your countertop?

I'd go with an ivory tile that matches the cabinets. To find that tile you're just going to have to order/bring home lots of sample tiles to see them in your space with your light. Subways or 4" squares would give you a nice traditional look. Please show us images when you're done!

@Kathy Jerding Kathy, quick question. I have looked at the tile you suggested and I like it, but, my main concern is that my walls are a beige (lightly colored) and our granite is the picture I attached. I don't want the tile to take away from the granite. Also, I know the granite looks grey, but it really isn't. It has a lot of taupe, olive green undertones, garnet speckles, silver swirls and both warm and cool tones of white. Don't ask me how that happened, but I'd love you opinion if you don't mind. As you can see, this granite has a LOT going on, but I love it. Our cabinets are a a warm white called Divinity. Think of the color as taking a cup of white paint and adding in a Tablespoon of taupe paint. We have the same hood vent and accessories as you do and all in black.

The wall with the picture on it is what I would like to tile.

So that refrigerator in photo 2 is in the cavity next to your ovens in the first photo? I wouldn't tile that wall, based on the keyhole view I have. Are the kids that messy?

Too, a full height tile wall is going to be much more sonically reflective than drywall. Tile would make little voices and little bangings and clangings a few notches more grating.

Oh, no, I wouldn't tile that wall. Is there a reason that you want to? You can always use wainscot to provide some visual interest, or even wallpaper if it just seems like an expanse of plainness. But putting tile where it isn't needed can look odd.
