Garage door color / Front door and columns advice
Comments (14)An entry door needs much more than an actually visible color. It needs the approach to it to have clues that it exists, and that people are welcome to come to that door. There doesn’t seem to be much of an encouraging wide and friendly pedestrian path to the porch, where presumably, people will travel. Right now? This looks like the cars are telling people that they are not welcome. The garage is the most obviously important part of the facade. It’s the most obvious and prominent element. And the front door isn’t visible, and has no designed path of destination to it. The hardscape and landscape design needs to overcome this. Paint is secondary. But yes, paint all of the batten trim and the garage doors the house body color. That body color may need a big workout on a lot of elements, actually. Every necklace in the jewelry box is being used, and it’s too much. The entry door needs a light bright color. School bus yellow. Bubble gum pink. Orchid purple. Acid citron green. Something that shouts rather than hides behind its mother’s apron....See MoreExterior paint colors and garage door color.
Comments (4)I love your MCM home. I particularly love your front door. The garage door is okay, but I do think it would be better as a wood or (plexi) glass type garage door like one of the below insp pics. I also would go with a green gray for your exterior color of the body of your home like one of the green/grays below. If you choose to keep your garage door, then naturally it would be painted the same as your siding or one shade darker of that color. If you do paint the siding in the greens, then change the accent color of your front door to the oranges or even eggplant or some other contrasting color. ^Glass type overhead door ^Garage door that coordinates with your front door....See MoreGarage door color help
Comments (6)Can that planting bed be changed/enlarged? It’s pretty small, and the wood (?) structure seems odd with the stone house. There’s no reason why the bed has to echo the shape of the turret behind it. Square it off and pull it forward to enlarge it. Then plant with a few varied-sized shrubs. Maybe a handful of brightly blooming annuals. Is there anywhere else to store the boat? Agree on moving the house numbers to over the house door. Remove the teensy door lanterns and add an appropriately-sized (i.e. big) pendant light instead. These things will draw attention to the front door rather than the garages....See MoreTrim. column, shutter and garage door color?
Comments (4)IMO the red shutters do nothing to enhace the house and are the wrong choice for those windows. I certainly would not paint the brick no matter what. IMO your best bang for the $ is landscaping and maybe a nice color for the new door and garage door I would leave the posts as is they almost blend into the brick which is ideal in this case .If in the budget a garage door with windows to match the house would be great . Maybe a nice grayed green since that ia nice complelent to all the red then maybe keep the shutters and do them theat same green...See MoreS M
