I read that that thermofoil is actually an amazing finish to keep clean.

The great thing about IKEA is that you can very easily replace doors (Axstad should be around for a long while since it’s new) or change door style later in. I say get a sample door if you haven’t done that already, and if you like it, get it. Good luck and please post photos of your project!

Ugggh, I wish I hadn’t dug up that photo of the marble. So pretty. It’s my dream surface but it wasn’t practical for this house...

So I have bodbyn in our kitchen in grey and love it but we also just got the white axstad ones for our cottage and navy ones for the island m. Not sure where you live but warning you that we have been waiting months for the navy parts and also for some base and wall cabinets. You might want to hold off until orders start being managed properly .

Test them. We settled for the Bodbyn for the one cabinet we could change easily now, and it cleans up wonderfully, even without having chosen pulls yet. The Matte Blue Axstad I tested smudged so bad (and it didn't come off without a cleaning that would make a 15 step Korean skin care routine roll its eyes) that we eliminated it from consideration.

Thanks for comments everyone. We ended up seeing Axstad in person and it sold us on Bodbyn. We actually started our reno about two weeks before lockdown started in March, but had luckily already purchased all of our cabinets and were DIYing anyway. Now that the kitchen is (almost) finished and we've lived with our off-white Bodbyn for months, we are sure we made the right decision. Love love our new kitchen!! We finally settled on backsplash this week after months of searching for the right fit to match the doors and countertops. As soon as the backsplash is installed I'll post photos of the completed project.

Yes, I'd love to hear what made you finally decide and see the pics of it installed. we'd planned on bobdyn but my husband is afraid of the 'off white'.

I would also love to hear. I decided on white so am ordering Axstad because Bobdyn was not as white. My only concern is that we can't get into a store to see the actual cabinet..

We chose Bodbyn and really like how it turned out!

We don't have the ability to go look in person, so I'm curious if you could post a picture of the Bodbyn white you chose? We are worried about it being too off-white, especially since we have a true white wall base trim where they will be installed. Thanks!

@RJ- Order a sample drawer front/door. Shipping's like $6, and even if you can't get to a store to return it, better to waste $60 than $1600 on drawer fronts you may or may not like.

Bodbyn seems higher quality and easier to clean. The Axstad displays in the store looked filthy, while Bodbyn looked spotless. Axstad shows everything, including greasy handprints due to its matte finish. I wanted something that would hold up to kids and dogs without having to constantly clean it. I’m a fan of true white and shaker style so I really prefer the style of Axstad, but I’m going with Bodbyn due to quality. It’s a pretty creamy color, and doesn’t look overly yellow.

Cant speak to that one specific but my brother’s house has the older Adel white and they are now 16 years old with 0 issues in the thermofoil

I had white Axstad in my previous home and it does show grease marks. You couldn’t really tell unless you were looking for it though.

ashleyburton87 did you end up hoing bobdyn? imnin same dilema now helping my daughter pick a kitchen. what counters did you end up selecting. i found a subway that matches nicely but need to select wall paint and counter.

I’m in the middle of the remodel so haven’t ordered countertop yet, but plan on doing a white quartz with slight gray veining to mimic marble. Agree with the comments above. Axstad is a fine choice. It doesn’t have the same sheen (since it’s matte), which means it probably doesn’t wipe up as well and shows more, but is still good quality.

Love how our Axstad cupboards look. You do see finger prints depending how light hits but I wipe them off with Method spray cleaner (suggested by sales person) or Dawn.

We like how our Axtad kitchen looks but hate how they clean. Maybe we are fussier then most but a simple wipe doesn't remove smudge marks or finger prints. It takes a wet clothe of dawn and vinegar followed with a wipe with a micro fiber towel.

Counters are LG (US$) Calacatta Plata - white quartz with some grey veining was the closest white I could find to match cupboards which are a very bright white. Took a lot of searching to find one that didn’t look dull or not really white next to cabinets.

Thanks! Yes I am still very happy with them. The island is also Ikea which basically is the cupboards you choose, the doors and a base. I had my husband make the end designs and frame them into my liking :)

Dirtsister, your kitchen is gorgeous!!!! Your flooring choice really makes the cabinets pop too. Is it hardwood or luxury vinyl? Do you remember the name of it? Also, how difficult was it to match the wood range hood paint to the cabinets? Love how you added a soffit to take the cabs all the way up; thinking of doing the same thing.
