Headed to the rainbow bridge

She's ill and not long for this world. It's Mom's second cat which had to be put down. Both were/are suffering from kidney failure. I'm not sure what's causing me the most grief, Mom's losing the last vestige of her prenursing home life, or how much Lily has suffered. She was a sweet thing who loved playing fetch with a silk flower Mom would toss. Sad! Sleep well little tortie girl

Rainbow Bridge Poem
Comments (1)I don't know if this is it, but I've always like this one. -------------------------------------------------------------- Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown......See MoreSophie sent me a baby from the rainbow bridge
Comments (32)You took the words right out of my mouth, Nina! Milo (who we have nicknamed Fuzz) has filled my heart with such happiness, though I still grieve my sweet Sophie. <3 I'm so glad your Olivia found one when she did. :) That picture is the most adorable thing! Update on Fuzz AKA Milo. He has been to the vet and had his first set of shots and I got his deworming medicine, which he already finished. He left with a clean bill of health. :) We are socializing him with family member's and friend's pets at home and he has done very well. :) Sadly, we have no puppy classes where I live (I live in the Appalachian mountains where our closest Walmart is even 35 minutes away). The only classes we have are pet co and it's just for training. So we are sticking with family and friend's dogs who we know are vaccinated and healthy, until he finishes his round of shots. I want to say thank you to each and everyone of you. You are all so kind and your words all mean so much. I truly love this community!...See MoreOrion Passes Over the Rainbow Bridge
Comments (81)Thank you, everyone. He was a lovely cat, and he was best friends with the other two cats in that photo. The other two have been doing some serious meowing for him, especially the first night he was gone from here. Last night it was more quiet on their part....See MoreMy Sweet George Has Crossed the Rainbow Bridge
Comments (55)Vicsgirl, there is no shortage of cats in our home. We are crazy for cats. Twice a day, we feed half a dozen ferals (sometimes more, sometimes less) that roam our neighborhood. Over the years, we have made friends with many of them. We have invited some into our home and some have literally invited themselves into our home, LOL. We've never followed the recommendations to introduce a new one gradually, but it has never taken the rest of the gang very long to figure out how to get along with a newcomer. Now that George is gone, We are left with 5 indoor cats - Buster, Bruno, Mouse, Alfie, and Rina. But there will never be another George. Like us, each cat is one of a kind....See More- 6 years ago
