Comments (7)I basically agree, although depending in the rest of the room, making this a little focal niche with paint or tile might be quite charming. You can have fun with it to see how you like it. What strikes me is that bead board, which is a rather humble material, doesn't really go with the more elegant, front-parlor door style. It can look right on the ceiling, as if it were original to the plainer kitchens of the past and left there as the room continued to evolve to today, but I wouldn't deliberately spot it around. If it were on the wall originally, it'd have been floor to ceiling or partial height on much or most of the room....See MoreWhat to put behind corner of sectional?
Comments (11)Plants are always good - real ones. But will it get enough light??? I always like can uplights that you put on the floor in back of them - makes beautiful shadows on the walls & makes a nice atmosphere. You can also do a pedestal with a great sculpture. Arc lamps are good for retro looks. ~Jeana...See Morehelp with what to put behind sofa and living room deco
Comments (20)Must jump in here and see how things will progress. Laural you have some nice things and they just need a bit of tweeking. Could you move the smaller of the 2 rugs to the door, so visitors step on to it when they come in. Remove all the fake flowers out of the jugs, they will look better empty. Getting the 3 is a good move. Decorate in odd numbers, 1, 3 5. I can see the sectional, could you post another pic. Move the other rug so the feet of the sofa are on the edge of rug. Could you move the black low chair to another room. Remove flowers out of vase at the front door. Do you have a mirror you could hang there. Let's do a few things at a time and then post new pics....See MoreWhat to put in back corner?
Comments (1)I think I would pull your couch back so that just the front legs of it are on the rug about three inches. Pull your coffee table/ottoman closer to the couch...it is too far for either couch as you have it. I think with a smaller space behind your couch, you do not need anything there. If you want, you could pull the other couch away from the pass-through a little more...making your couches more evenly spaced from the wall. I like your room....See MoreSammie J
