Help with what to put on living room walls either side of fireplace.
Comments (6)I can't see the whole room....the comfy chair looks so far from the couch and not fond of the TV in the corner. In the third picture, I see a table or something in the corner by the TV...what is that? Without seeing your whole room, could the TV be put flat on the wall on the other side of the fireplace and the chair nearer the couch, slanted enough to see the TV? I would take all things off the mantle and hearth and depending...try the mirror vertical instead of horizontal. Then on the left side of the fireplace, an accent chair (for conversation not TV watching) with a floor lamp and some sort of pretty art to go with your color scheme....See MoreHelp! Comments (10)The new lamp looks great! It could be a little short, but it seems to be in proportion to where you've placed the TV. I see what you mean though! You could hang long, vertical photo frames or pictures on each side of the TV, so the wall looks decorated as well. Could use some greenery at the bottom too, if you have space. What do you think? I'm more about practicality when it comes to decorating, so depending on how bright the lamp is when it's on, I think it's fine as long as the lighting doesn't affect/obstruct your view to the TV when you're sitting. I also agree with celerygirl, and elements of their sketch could work with the room. If you decide to get a rug, you could consider one with a different texture to your current carpet. You could also consider small, gold/metal-type decorations so they are coherent with your current colour scheme, but also make the room pop....See MoreWhat's missing in my living room? Comments (21)Someone said: I believe the Houzz experts (and I am NOT one!) suggest the TV be 2/3 the width of the TV cabinet. No no no no no. The TV cabinet needs to be at least 25% wider than the TV. Wider is always better. There is no minimum size for the TV. Do not hang that guitar between the windows. Do not hang anything between the windows. Your curtains are perfect. Hang the guitar on the wall just left of the TV, get some art for over the sofa, and add just a touch more red to echo the arc lamp (which is tres cool, BTW). You've done a great job so far. You've got this....See MoreWhat should I put on the wall above and behind my sofa?
Comments (1)Measure your sofa length. A good width for artwork over a sofa is two/thirds the length of the sofa. Round up or down to the nearest standard size. Frame style is a personal preference. As for color, if you like coordinated things, pick art with some blue in it, like the sofa....See MoreGcubed
