I will be interested to hear this as well. I have an old Kindle DX (two actually) which don't seem to be being properly supported any more. I love the large size and not having to swipe but that is a thing of the past. I will eventually have to move on.

The only kindles I have had have been the fires. I have the kindle fire hd 10 now and really love it. It's a bigger tablet (10 inch, hence the name)but I always use my stand and read books at my desk at work with my feet propped up. Since it's not JUST an e-reader tablet it can be distracting depending on what games or other apps you put on there not to mention the internet but it's what I use to read and I love it. On mine you dont swipe to turn the pages you just scroll down to read the whole book.

I use the Kindle Fire HD and love it. It is not only a great reader but has email and an internet browser. Rich sharp color, adjustable brightness and volume, changeable fonts, video, a camera and uses Android apps. I have no complaints, it fits in my purse with a colorful magnetic case. You can scroll the entire book or tap to go to the next page.

I have a fire 8 and I love it. I decided I didn't want to pay the extra money for a 10.

Husband has several Fires and really likes them. I have a Paperwhite for reading outside. I use my IPad for everything else.

I have the Paperwhite and like that it is so easy to read outside. No glare!

I don't want apps or anything, just a way to read. Disconnected from the interplanet but without the debris and weight.

The only actual Kindle product we have is a Kindle paperwhite. My husband uses it exclusively for reading his books. He lost his Android tablet in the flood. The Kindle was a wonderful gift from a dear friend. I use the Kindle app on my phone, tablet and chromebooks.

My brother in law got a new kindle fire hd 10 for Christmas. I played around with it when I was there. It had a really nice screen and resolution. For what he uses one for it fit his needs.

I love the paperwhite. I have had it for a few years now. It is really ideal for travel with the no glare ( I don't think other ones have that feature but I could be wrong).

We also have a Fire which is good but if you don't want to be distracted I would go with the kindle paperwhite.

It seems to me that the kindle paperwhite battery lasts a lot longer than the fire.

I wouldn't trade my paperwhite for any other reader. I have a tablet, it's too heavy for comfortable reading over a period of time. Plus, I'm limited in WHERE I can read due to glare on the screen. My phone is too small for these old eyes, I need a larger screen than it has. The paperwhite is right in between and is just right!

I have heard the Paperwhite is the best. I think it's 6", which is the size of a paper back, I believe. I think they seem kind of high-priced. I got the Kindle Fire 8 on Prime day, I love it. Lighter to hold than my iPad mini. And DH doens't care if I'm reading on my tablet. He said it is so much better than listening to House Hunters every night! lol.

I recommend the paperwhite. It is basicaly just a reader - small and easy to carry around. I use it on cruise ships - it is designed to be read in sunlight and it does a very good job

I did that for my husband. I labeled it finished books. So when he is done he can move it to the finished collection. He has so many books it's hard to keep track.

Yes, you can! For many hardback books purchased from Amazon, you can get the Kindle version for free or very low cost. Not all books qualify. I forget what they call the "program" that allows this, but you can search around, or even call Amazon customer service and ask.

At any rate... My husband and I both love to read. We used to go to Hawaii every six months, and it's great to sit on the beach or by the pool and read a good book. And Hubs used to lug several hardback books along with us on vacation and, of course, he'd put them in his carry-on luggage because he didn't want them to get lost or damaged in checked luggage. He's really into historical stuff and his books are always very thick and very heavy. But with a Kindle, you can have thousands of really long books and the Kindle will still weigh less than 7 ounces.

As I mentioned, I love my paperwhite. So much so, that I would like to get one as a gift for my sister. I am kicking myself that I did not think of this during the black friday promos but does anyone know of any deals or maybe something coming up? It doesn't need to be the latest version, as long as it is a paper white. The only thing I have seen is for like $129.99. (crazy that the Fire is priced so much lower). If you know of any other promotions for paperwhite please do share.

I often travel with only my Kindle Fire. In one small device I have all my books, email and internet. I don't need anything else.

I have discovered that since I use a case with a magnetic cover, that I cannot put hotel key cards near it as it wipes them out. DH keeps them in his pocket.

I love my OLD Kindle Paperwhite. However, I bought a new one in 2019 and detested it. It's back in the box. I will only go use it when my old Kindle finally, totally gives up the ghost.

Our problem is that my spouse and I share my account. When I activated the 2019 Kindle, ALL our books show up on the screen. ALL OF THEM.

SIX YEARS WORTH OF BOOKS - his AND mine. 33 screens to page through!

And if you delete a book from the new Kindle - it deletes it entirely, from the Cloud. Forever. No more just "remove from device".

No one at Amazon could help us. If anybody has a solution for the 2019 Paperwhite beyond creating Collections (clunky and an imperfect work-around, at best), I'm all ears!!

My husband doesn't read books so I don't have to share my Kindle or Prime with him. I subscribe to Netflix and watch it on my laptop. He get's miffed because "we could watch movies together" - basically HE could watch a movie and I could leave the room. Mutual incompatibility. Isn't going to happen. My Netflix subscription is 1/4 what his Boston Globe delivery costs each month.

I had it sent to the recipient who just received it today and called to thank me.

Check with them about giving you that price. Sometimes if it is a short time they will do it.

Alas, after spending close to an hour on "chat" and all, it seems they dug in their heels and since this is not a "lower price" but "on deal" the price matching is not honored. They did say I could return the 129 kindle and order the identical "on deal" item. Since it was a gift, I am out of luck.

Oh well......... In the meantime if anyone is interested in a kindle paperwhite- seize the day!
