I need to choose paint color(s) for my walls.

I have one large open space which includes kitchen, dining and living. My previous walls were plain and painted in 3 colors: one in kitchen, another along long wall of dining and living space, and another on window wall at front of home. I have since installed wainscoting which is painted white. I am changing my colors from brown, beige, and ivory to greys, perhaps greige, and a lighter creamy beige. First of all, do you recommend multiple colors? I am kind of leaning that way, as I prefer a lighter kitchen than maybe the long living and dining wall and like the idea of separate spaces within one space. The color on the left is SW Elephant Ear, the middle is the creamy beige I have chosen for the front windows near my sectional, and the right is SW Dovetail. My chairs sometimes look brown, sometimes grey. My counters are all of those colors.

One large open space calls for one color. Of the colors you’ve presented, the creamy beige is what I’d pick.

None of the colors you are showing works because they are all too creamy or muddy. Look at the wood tone of the chair and the undertone of the fabric.

I suggest B.M. Polar Frost for the entire space.

Area rug from cb2 has wall color for background and a tone to work with the granite

fairytalebaby, I'm so excited for you. I remember your beautiful setting when you posted over on Building a Home. When we picked out paint colors before we had furniture we also stuck to neutral. It's hard enough to choose paint when you have actual materials you are trying to match but without the furniture, neutrals are your friend. As for the ceiling. There is no rule, only personal preference. I was formally a white ceiling kinda gal but the more I looked at new homes and some beautiful shots here on Garden Web, the more I really wanted to try some color. I love it now and can't even imagine going back to white ceilings. I'm a total convert. Some like a 50% cut of their wall color. Some like light gray (like Ellen Kennon's Gustavian Gray) Some like cream. It's totally up to you! Good Luck and can't wait to see what you're picking out for your interior! Beautiful Home! Lindy

Painting the cabs to a high standard is an investment in both time and money I would not do in a rental. Also, is the owner supplying the paint for the walls? As a landlord and a former renter, I would make sure that any colors chosen get the owners approval first. As to what shade could work best for you on the walls, can you share more pics? Agree with you that the current shade isn't working. And I would most likely paint out that bit of white trim to match the new wall colour, if the landlord approves.

I am in the same dilemma as you. Looking for a light Sherwin Williams Greige maybe but not full grey. I have an open concept as well. I chose to paint my DR a darker color bec of the white wainscot I have and the rest of bottom floor will be a neutral TBA

I’m not looking to pull any design elements from my granite, as that may be replaced down the road. SW Accessible Beige is nice with my sectional which sits on an Ethan Allen rug with greys, cream, blue.

Also, I am wanting a color on my walls to contrast with the white wainscoting. While Polar Frost is very pretty in the bathroom pic posted, I am looking for more color.
