Thanks everyone! Appreciate your advice. I had a gut feeling that they would be too small. I feel like if I go 10"-11" then it needs to have a glass filter on the bottom so the light bulbs don't show but the only one I can find like that is the one from Restoration Hardware. Any opinions on the filter issue? pattisue72- what is the name of your 10.5" pendants?

Hi Kelley, Based on those dimensions you mentioned above, you may be able to squeeze 3 more pendants of the same width with a 10 inch gap, spread evenly and equidistant from each other. It looks like an integrated bulb and IMO a bad choice always . So I guess if that is the case I would not go there. I think I need to see the kitchen it is going into basically you have yellow hued lighting so if you have a white kitchen it will now look yellowed . I think it is too short for a 9’ island and I would look for LED pendants where the light actually lights the island and I would do 3 pendants or get a much longer linear fixture that also lights the island not the ceiling.

That works fine. Make sure the lights have at least 6" of space from the end of the island. Just be aware that with the opaque cone, the light will be directed only down on the counter. You'll need to supplement these lights with downlights in the ceiling.
