I'm nearsighted. With my glasses off I see a hybrid of the two. If I enlarge the picture I see Albert, and if I get far enough away I see Marilyn.

I see Albert but if I take my glasses off, I see a very blurry Marilyn. Interesting!

I see Albert. If I stand and step back behind my desk chair at a distance of maybe 5-6' from my monitor, I see Marilyn.

ETA: Oh, funny. I have a map style large magnifier on my desk. If I hold it up and look through it, it's Marilyn from the same distance that it appears to be Albert without the lens.

The only way I see Marilyn is if I push my chair back about 7 feet.

I definitely do not see Marilyn Manson, which is what I expected. I do see Marilyn Monroe if I take my glasses off and move back a few feet.

It's funny because I was very near sighted (very very) and had lasik over 20 years ago. I think I am still a touch near sighted. I only use weak (dollar store) readers when I am reading (screens or books). So first I saw Marilyn Monroe and then when I put on my reader glasses, there's Albert .

My husband did not see Albert at all but did see " a blonde woman".

Seems to depend more on viewing angle than distance.

I have mono vision thanks to cataract surgery ( hate it). With my distance eye I see Marilyn, with my near eye, I see Marilyn with Einstein’s nose.

I see both. Glasses on more Albert. Glasses off blurry Marilyn.

I've had both lasik and cataract surgery. And I'm not sure just what I see. Basically some odd sort of mix of someone who could really use a good plastic surgeon.

If I just look at the picture, I see Albert. If I squint and barely look, I can see Marilyn.

I can see both, the thumbnail for the thread is Marilyn, when I click on the thread, the image in the thread is Albert.

This isn't surprising considering this image is made from a combination of their two portraits.

The Marilyn image is the main, albeit blurred image with the outline of Albert superimposed with the eyes, nose, mouth, and jawline lining up.

It's a cool pic.

Here is an old example from 1994 that will fade in an out the two faces by blurring the image and then bringing it back into focus.

Here is a page from Vanity Fair from the 1930s showing a composite photo of male stars. I saw this in a book that my mother had, and there was also a page showing composite photo of female stars at the same time.

I see both, with and without my glasses (formerly nearsighted, now mostly severe astigmatism which gives me double vision without the glasses.) So, it looks like some female age 90. Or, plastic surgery gone wrong.

Lars, I think the composite woman is much better looking than the composite man. Interesting photos.

As the description there explains it has to do with spatial frequency and visual acuity. The higher frequency Einstein appears when you are close enough to perceive the fine line that define his image. When you are farther away such that you can no longer differentiate those fine lines, you see a blurry Marilyn Monroe.

I was going to post the image TexasGem linked to. There was on hanging on a wall in a conference room at work. While sitting at the table if you look at the image, the angry face was on the right, and the neutral face was on the left. If instead you looked in the opposite direction where a mirror was hung on the wall, the increased distance was such that the neutral face and the angry face were reversed, but since the mirror also reversed the entire image right to left, it still appeared thatthe angry face was on the right, and the neutral face was on the left. It was only after you thought about it for awhile that you realized that two reversals were going on.

One co-worker couldn't get it until someone placed an arrow pointing to the angry face, and in the mirror image the arrow was pointing to the neutral face.

I just find these fascinating. Remember the one of the dress that people saw was it gold and brown or blue and black? Yanny and Laurel. Clearly no wrong and no right.

Try backing straight up away from the screen. When you are about 8 to 10 feet away from the screen the high-frequency features that comprise Albert should no longer be distinguishable, and the remaining images will be a blurry Marilyn Monroe.
