Big corridor renovation! Please help me, guys!
Comments (29)Thank you for all your recommendations and notes. Really appreciate all of them! Guys, you made me change the way I look to this wooden decor. I finally looked it very beautiful: it's natural, hand made, in very high quality, and now, it would be very expecive to decor like that all room. But.. this kind of style: wooden decors, vintage kitchen cabinets, vintage lamps, rug on the wall reminds Soviet Ocupation times for as, Eastern Europeans. I think, mostly, every Lithuanian who would see this decor would say: "Soviet.. this is old, out stylish, definitely not beautiful, discussing". I heard comments like this from my family and friends. Sometimes felt little bit asshamed to invite in my recently bought appartment because of this decor. When you guys said this is beautiful, or how to style this decor up, I felt shocked that someone find it even beautiful, unbelievable :) And It would be pretty if I would style this decor up/repaint, it is just as lithuanians, associate this with Soviets. So even if I would want to donate this to someone, I think here wouldn't be possible to find someone who would take this. So my SOLUTION :) Actually, I will say bye bye for this decor, prefer a drywall. :) And I'll definitely upload after photos here in 2-3months....See Morewhat color would you paint this house?
Comments (12)Paint all the redwood white including the trim and garage doors white. Leave the brick as is. Or a color other then while that compliments the brick color would also work, like greys or taupes or a creamy off white color. . Sherman Williams Shell White and Keystone Grey are nice colors. You need to buy some small test colors to see how it looks next to the brick, whites are tricky. If you're windows are dark green you may want to use a white that leans towards the green side as opposed to the blue/grey side. I'm sure you will find a nice ones....See MoreWhat would you renovate in this house?
Comments (20)Thanks for all the suggestions so far! To answer/follow up on some comments, here are some things we don't really love: The backsplash and countertop colors are definitely not our style. We call it a dizzy kitchen just because of the look. We're tempted to completely redo the backsplash, countertop, and possibly the cabinets, but we're a little worried about the potential high cost to replace something that is definitely still in good condition. We definitely want to repaint the walls. The mint green isn't great and the whole house itself doesn't feel like it has enough color and the yellow-ish walls just make it seem really drab. We definitely want to replace the light fixtures, especially the one in the foyer. The fireplace area seems a little dated and we do want a more modern looking one. We're definitely thinking about redoing the floors or at least refinishing them. I prefer a lighter color. The stairs are definitely older looking, but they're supposed to match the rest of the house, so I'm not sure yet what we want to do there. I really hate the closet, both the shelving and the shape of it. We'll probably change the former. We're not looking to change anything exterior yet since we want to just do things that will be a hassle to do once we're moved in. The issue we're worried about here is that when we start nitpicking, there are tons of things that we could change that are still in good condition. We're worried about going down a rabbithole and end up either completely remodeling the house (for a lot of money) or only changing certain things and end up having a house that is half modern/half classic. The other concern is whether a modern interior that we want would match the classic exterior, which looks like this....See MoreKitchen Renovation…what backsplash would you choose?
Comments (4)Love your slate floors! I would use a simple creamy subway tile for your backsplash. But I would wait until EVERYTHING, including your counter tops, is in place before deciding. You don’t want too many things competing with each other. As it is, your counter is a bit busy with your flooring....See Moremmilos
