Is there a brownish gray color which looks 'bright' and 'fresh'
Comments (20)I am chuckling a bit because when I read your first post, I was going to suggest F&B Buff, but I had a sense you wanted something lighter. Buff and London Stone are very close in value and were the two final contenders for my last living room. Buff won because in my light the LS threw a bit of pink and the Buff behaved in a completely neutral way...no green, yellow or pink. So, I am a little confused...do you plan to use London Stone and need a lighter color elsewhere? Or are you looking for a lighter version of what London Stone does? And if so, why? Can't go that saturated/dark?...See MoreExperiences with Edgecomb Gray in low light areas vs. southern ex
Comments (12)I actually just painted samples of Edgecomb Gray on several walls of our new build. The rooms all had east/southern light, and it's great. No green. No purple. A very nice blend of beige and gray. It did seem a bit more gray out of direct light, which I actually like. Sorry, I did not try it on a northern lit room, so I can't speak to that. I've been swimming in paint colors lately to figure out all the rooms of the house, and I will say, this color needs to be sampled on the wall. In our current home, it looked more like a shade of white. But at the new build, it's a warm griege - and just what we were looking for! Good luck!...See MoreEquivalent to BM Edgecomb Gray? Need SW or Valspar
Comments (12)I chose Edgecomb Gray for all of my main living areas. I first had SW computer match for the color, it wasn't spot-on, so i took the actual chip in and they color matched it by hand. It was very, very close. Maybe leans a tiny bit toward the beige side of greige than the BM sample, but that could've just been the difference in sheens. If you decide to go this route, I can post a pic of the formula from the can and you can have SW mix it up to see what you think. Other SW colors I found similar to Edgecomb Gray were SW Modern Gray and SW Wordly Gray....See MoreEdgecomb gray too yellow… more gray leaning greige?
Comments (26)Throwing in a vote for Ben Moore Silver Satin. We are finishing up a remodel and chose this as our "all over" color, so foyer, hallways, family room, kitchen, etc. I have it in a few north facing rooms and it's a lovely soft gray that does not look beige. My last house used Pale Oak as the main color, and I really liked that too, I just wanted to go a little more cool toned this time. Pale Oak, and I have found the same for Balboa Mist, tends to lean towards beige depending on what you pair it with. Other colors we considered that I think would work for you (all Ben Moore): Calm, Classic Gray, Gray Owl (this has strong green undertones but in my experience, a green undertone can actually warm things up in a north facing room, it seems like it shouldn't work but it does!)....See Morecalidesign
