Need help decorating/furnishing family room
Comments (6)Would you have it in your budget to hire a professional to come up with optional layouts and furniture suggestions. If not, you should work with an online room planner and really consider your family's needs and a few seating/working areas. The paint color can really be the last things to consider, based on what you have selected in terms of art, drapery, couch, etc. and I would paint the trim at the same time as you are doing the walls. Look at inspiration pictures to help (not necessarily with layout but seating options, accessories, bookcases, desk/office needs, color combinations) and based on your taste for modern farmhouse, you may want to check Joanna Gaines' site for inspirations. This is a huge undertaking and will take lots of planning. In regards to your kitchen, changes really depends on your budget. http://www.hgtv.com/shows/fixer-upper/photos...See MoreNeed help furnishing living/family room
Comments (1)Without seeing photos of the room, I’d say put the tv on the 13 ft. Wall and the sectional against the other long wall with the other side with its back toward the stairs. Is that squiggly line a window? A single chair might fit between the sectional and the room that has a d in it. Coffee table in front of the sectional, end table with lamp in the corner where the two long walls meet. Maybe a floor lamp where the sectional halves meet, an arc lamp if your style will support it. photos of the space would help. If you make furniture templates to scale you can rearrange them on the plan without straining your back or making purchases that don’t work....See MoreHelp with furnishing family room

Comments (10)My sofa is at a side angle to the TV. The TV screen is huge, I can watch it comfortably from several angles in the room so I wouldn't obsess over the idea that the only good viewing spot for the TV is directly across. Plus you can get braces that move to angle it. The biggest ironic issue for hubs and I is that we both want to lay down in the family room and watch TV, often together. We'd love to be able to afford an L shaped sectional with one of those big stuffed ottomans. We have a futon in the family room but it looks bad pulled out into a bed, it makes us look lazy or something . . . :) Are you getting new furniture? In the meantime, move some chairs around and see what kind of arrangement floats your boat . . ....See MoreStyldod
