Home Decorating Design Dilemma

which photo is best

Are these photos too large for the space above the sectional? They are 40" x60" and when hung there will be a 8" space above and below the pictures. Would I be better off with a different size? Which picture looks the nicest or are both poor choices?

You showed both because you wondered about color and size, yet there's virtually nothing else in the pictures. How would anyone know.

In reality, neither of them belong in a home. In a dentist's office? Fine. But not in your personal home. They are generic, insipid, clearly mass-produced junk, and probably on Black Friday sale at Home Goods or TJ Maxx. They will always look like cheap décor-store wall 'art'.

You deserve better in your home--your private space--which should reflect you and your history, not sweat shop imports.

You're hanging both? They should be 2/3 of the sectional width and hung 5" above the sectional back. Not an even number above and below picture

It seems from your post that you are asking which one and plan on hanging only one. It would be easier to comment if we could see more of your room, but from what you show, the size looks great. I prefer the 2nd one because it looks more like real "art". The first looks more like mass produced Hobby Lobby decor.

Tinker_2006, I think the dissonance I'm experiencing is because of the highly patterned bedskirt. I think it's beautiful, but it seems like it calls out for an unpatterned comforter or duvet so that you get that soft, smooth lofted look contrasting with the busily patterned bedskirt. You could repeat the eyelet with trim on pillow shams. Also, I like a more decadent look that includes Euro pillows, but that's just personal preference. If I can, later I will try to find some pictures showing what I mean.

Embassy Suites by all means....They have a made to order breakfast, anything and everything...And in the evening, they have a reception...And there again, any type of drink and all the goodies to go with it....I've stayed in a few and each one has been great......Wonderful experience......

I like Flickr, except that if you want people to be able to download the high resolution versions of your photos, you need to buy a Pro account. Picasa lets you do this for free for the first xx gigabytes of content (can't remember how much exactly) so we went with that for a recent album of 500+ images. If you just want people to be able to look at photos online, though, and don't care (or don't want) the high res download ability, Flickr is my favorite.

Your colors are lively. Bigger pieces have far more impact. One piece on each wall. Photos that are meaningful to you are often a lot more fun. For example, a bike photo from a city you have visited (or dreamed of someday) is more fun than a photo of a bike in some anonymous place.

I'll only be hanging one of them. Showed both because I like both and was wondering which one the best choice for color and size.
