Suggestions for LARGE prickly pear (in ground) w. bad scale
Comments (7)I would wait until late afternoon or early evening. Add 1 capful of Fish Emulsion, 2 drops of dish soap, (not Dawn) lemon or some sort of citrus juice, and garlic juice and water. I use a 16oz water bottle/mister. Mix all ingredients, then spray your Prickly Pear and neighboring plants..(Fill mister w/water) Also, inspect neighboring plants..scale move about.. This mix is safe and chemical-free. I used it after receiving an Olive tree loaded with scale. They died within days..I didn't see the scale at first, so it was placed next to various citrus trees..Nearby citrus branches were infested. I sprayed every plant in the entire area, scale or no scale..Believe me, it works, and you don't have to worry about toxins..Toni...See MoreDaily Support, Monday 7/26 to Sunday 8/1/10
Comments (16)Happy Saturday, everyone! It's a beautiful day here in Dallas, and a warm one - 100 F! Needless to say, I'm staying indoors a lot lately, and the cooking has been interestingly healthy! My friend and I are really enjoying seeing how tasty and healthy we can make our meals, and it's been fun, and I'm losing weight! Maddi, congrats to you, woman!!! I'm proud of you! Suzanne, I don't miss the humidity of SE Texas - not that we don't have a few humid ones up here, but not daily. The mosquitoes are almost as bad though. Ivamae, hang in there on the weight. You seem to be doing so well! Marci!!! So nice to read your posts this week. If you and hubby can survive the first week, all should prove well. Does he like to cook or at least plan meals? That would help a lot. Get him hooked on the Food Network! Dee, did you survive the talking-to you gave yourself this week? I'm always harsher on myself than anyone else could ever be, I know. Raeanne, get back in here, missy! I always enjoy reading your posts. Tonight is light snacking - probably cantaloupe, a small chunk of Queso Asadero cheese, and light popcorn - since lunch today was a big country dinner of pork loin, fresh picked pinto beans, cornbread, and slaw. Tomorrow I'm going over to visit my son, his wife, her mom, and baby Paxton who is now 2-1/2 weeks old and oh, so cute in his pics son posts on FB. It's a long drive from where I'm staying so I'm limiting myself to a weekly drive over. Can't wait! Have a wonderful Saturday!...See MoreScale of 1-10...Kashmir White Granite vs Honed Cararra Marble
Comments (16)I actually own both of these stones...I have honed Carrara in my kitchen and butler's pantry, polished Carrara in my master bath and Kashmir white on my dd's vanity and the guest room's bath vanity. First of all...in the two years we have lived here (new build also) none has stained. Not even iced tea, tomato sauce or red wine on my marble. Very slight etching on both types of marble, and no etching on the granite. I will tell you, though, that aesthetically...the Kashmir DOES NOT in any way, shape or form look anything like marble. The stone yard told me it would be a good, durable stone for my elementary age dd and it was the closest granite to marble. No, it isn't. I really wish I had just been brave and done the marble in those baths...it would have given them that "old house" look that I want. Oh well! Don't know anything about quartz, except that I have 1 neighbor that has it. It seems serviceable, but again, doesn't look like marble. Not sure her color, though, it is whitish....See MoreIs it worth it or should i just buy 4 packs ($1.10 each)?
Comments (10)I haven't checked the soil temp. I just thought the reason they weren't coming up was because of it. Most of my seeds I germinated in paper towel and then planted in the garden after they sprouted. Or I sowed in the cold frame and transplanted as babies. Those transplants (few that survived animal attack) seem to be doing better now. Getting bigger . But some of the seeds that I sprouted in paper towel and planted in the garden are just not coming up. I did this with leeks, cabbage and kale last week of March. I see a leek here and there trying to peak through the soil, but not even 5% of what I planted. Out of about 50 cabbage seeds I got 2 cabbage seedlings peaking through now.. No true leaves yet. I wasn't going to have 50 cabbages, just knew things would go wrong and I'd be left with few at the end. Seeds are from Baker Creek ordered few weeks ago. What would you think the problem is ? I mean soil just can't be that cold for already sprouted cold weather crop seeds to not come up in April!...See Moremillworkman
