Comments (2)The only time a slab backsplash looks right is if it the same granite as the counter. We did bookmatching seams on our vignette here so the veins flow across the whole installation. If you want a single surface, consider sheet stainless or glass. Or large format tile....See Morelarge granite slab question
Comments (12)I would also want a single slab of granite if I were you. That being said, we have a massive island with a single slab of granite. We are not the original owners and didn't install it but noticed that it has a section with an irregular crack that obviously broke off at some point and then was repaired. The crack is lengthwise along the overhang where barstools go. We suspect that it was either damaged during installation or someone put too much weight on it later and it broke. Either way, there are obviously new, additional supports put underneath the overhang. The crack isn't particularly obvious since it is so irregular and blends in with the veining of the granite. If you go with a single slab, I would just make sure it is 100% supported. I suspect it is a lot easier to crack....See MoreSpokane WA showroom for bigger slabs of quartz on display
Comments (4)Pental, Handstone, and Viatera all cannot be seen in Spokane :( I have been researching counters easily for over 6 months here. We narrowed it down and liked Viatera, but couldn't see it anywhere. Pental is in Seattle. Not sure about Hanstone. Then we found a display with Pental Quarz Misterio at Prosource on E. Main (and both liked it!) - they will beat any competitors price just fyi (you need to get estimates from other places, then they will take the same estimate and beat the price - I just recently learned this.) You can see Prizm (MGX) quartz slabs in the Valley, there is a Cosentino warehouse in the valley (Silestone Quartz), Cosmos in the Valley (Cosmos brand), Bedrosians (Sequel Qaurtz.) I think those are all I can think of with large warehouse sized slabs. ProSource has samples of ALL brands of quartz (although they are small like most places, but it's helpful to have them all in one spot.) Any other questions let me know, I have been doing this quite awhile haha....See MoreLook of large slab porcelain that's less expensive?
Comments (36)@joseph_corlett. I spent the afternoon at a large volume fabricator warehouse, looking at their remnants. Although they had lots of remnants, I don't think I found what I was looking for. I am looking for a soft, almost-white, solid colored quartz. Looked at some online and think that the Hanstone Royale Blanc might be the right shade of off-white. Do you know of any other brands that might have the off-white solid quartz? I thought maybe if I could find a fabricator that sold a lot of the brand of quartz, I could find a remnant piece in the color I want. Thanks for any advice you can provide....See Morejust_janni
