I miss so many things that were so wonderful from my childhood. I lived on a small town street with a ton of kids. We had so much fun. We all walked to school together. Kids nowadays don't know what they are missing. I miss my grandma. I saw her for the last time on my wedding day, June 1, 1968. She died a week later. I miss my wonderful FIL. He was so much fun to sit and chat with. I wish my dad had been that way. I wish life would slow down. Everyone is in such a hurry. I can't go anywhere that someone doesn't have a phone hooked to their ear. They stand in the grocery isle. Please move aside!! I miss the drives in the countryside we used to take. I love taking the back roads instead of the super highways!! People don't have a clue what they are missing.

Stopped into a Marshall's on my way to the library today. I hadn't even know it was there. Went through EVERYTHING because I didn't want to miss something. My conclusions: everything commonly available in cotton is either white or blue. Wait! There's a third color! White with blue stripes. I don't normally wear either color. This has been true in every store I've visited, not just Marshall's. I did end up buying a white linen shirt with embroidery at the neckline. It was only $10 on clearance (slightly damaged, but I can fix it easily) . I will wear it a few times and see if I can stand to wear a color that will be filthy by the end of the first day. I can always tea dye it. Probably will. Marshalls had, it seemed, almost everything on clearance. Must be between seasons. But henceforth I will think of that store as the Home of Rayon. I'm sure I would not have noticed that before, if I hadn't been ferreting inside every shirt for the fiber content tag. Wait Wait! I did buy some all-cotton shorty pajamas. They are blue and white. Striped. But I don't have to choose jewelry to match them, and I won't worry about them making my skin look green while I am sleeping. Then I stopped off at a Talbots (which I also didn't know was there) and bought the shirt Lucy mentioned above. The cut is very flattering, with a yoke front and back. The nicest cut of anything I've found so far. Tassel-Tie Chambray Popover Shirt Which is blue. With white embroidery. I asked them to help me find anything else in a sleeveless natural fiber. I was the only one in there, so the 2 staff ladies quite got into the challenge. I tried on the 4 other items, 3 of which were blue, white, or blue and white. The remaining shirt was white with orange embroidery. Sigh. I didn't buy anything else. So far I have not bought anything in any other color. But the Nordstrom order arrives tomorrow.

@bbstx no particular brand or store. I like a cotton knit. I also like a style that is not straight but fitted through the bust. I have a couple that are stretch lace and a seam under the bust, very flattering. I believe I have found those at Belk and/or Macys. @Zalco/bring back Sophie! thank you for that link! That first one is the style I wear! I think I might order the black one with white polka dots.

I took a 26-27” hard-sided Bric suitcase and a 20 liter Tucano backpack that opens like a suitcase. I wore one pair of shoes (On Cloud) and carried 2 pairs of sandals, one pair were for walking (Munro Pisces) and the other were to wear to dinner (Jack Rogers Lauren). I wore the ON Cloud shoes almost exclusively during the day because I injured my foot about 4-6 weeks before my trip. The orthopedist told me to get a shoe with good support and wear it. I was able to wear the sandals to dinner because we did not walk far. I took too much jewelry. I wore less than half of it. I traveled with a friend who was the first light-packer I ever encountered. She carried a set of silver jewelry and a set of gold jewelry. I need to stick with that plan. I found that for sightseeing, I preferred dark (but lightweight) pants to the lighter colors. To me, dark colors do not show wrinkles the way lighter colors do, nor do they show dirt. I did not wear my white linen pants or the light blue linen pants. I did wear my white EF washable crepe pants to dinner on the ship several times. Same with my black EF washable crepe pants. I brought back unworn my blue chambray shirt, pink linen shell, hot pink linen dress, and a couple of cotton knit shirts, and the 2 pair of linen pants. The one article that I got the most use out of was the Chico’s no-iron linen shirt in a natural/oatmeal color. I wore it as a shirt and as a light jacket. The cream merino sweater never saw the light of day, but I’d take it again anyway. Never hurts to have a ”just in case” sweater. I carried too many scarves. One that would go with navy, 1 that would go with black, and maybe a colorful one would have been enough. I carried my iPad Pro, but I left the case that contains a keyboard behind. I have a case that is light but protects my iPad when I travel. I wish there were some way for you to convince your DH to leave his hardback book behind.
