Changing mind on Clarion Farmhouse Sink
Comments (4)Terry the drain board and cutting board are accessories for this sink. Just google Kohler Harborview sink and you should have no problem finding the sink and accessories. Not sure about a skirt . . . I like the open look and besides I want to keep baskets for veggies underneath. Although I must admit I do like the skirt look also. Pllog as far as the usefulness it will go something like this. Carry a basket of veggies in from the garden. Kick off shoes. Put the veggies to be washed in the sink. The rest leave in the basket and slip basket under sink. Wash veggies and drain on drainboard or colander that is sitting on drainboard. When I do big canning projects, I can see maybe wanting a small butcher block on wheels or cart on wheels to wheel containers of washed peaches, tomatoes, ets. from wash sink over to stove. The Kohler is enameled cast iron and the Clarion is porcelain over cast iron. Kohler gives a lifetime warrantee against chips and cracks, which I think it good. I saw this sink today in the showroom and it is prettier in person than in the photos. The legs are more rounded than they appear in the photos also. The only thing I don't like is the fact that I may not be able to find a faucet with a sprayer that is made for a wall mount bridge faucet. I have to go with two wall mount bridge faucets because of how the holes are drilled. The Clarion sink is made in China so it is shipped from China to California and then from California to the East Coast. At least now I don't feel guilty about the large carbon imprint to buy the Clarion. Also, I think given my space restrictions, I think having the 4' wide sink with 30" wide flanking cabinets will look better than having a 5' wide sink with 24" wide flanking cabinets. I hope I won't be sorry. I don't think I will be. It's kinda too late because the plumber already plumbed for the two drains....See MoreWill a Farmhouse Sink fit in an Ikea Akrum 30" Sink Cabinet?
Comments (15)Yes, I realize that. I meant here on the Houzz site - or perhaps on the IKEA Hacker's site. It would be great to see exactly how to adjust the non-apron sink cabinet to fit an apron sink. We have to do it nonetheless, so I might take pictures and post if I can't find anything else. Our sink is not as heavy as the 30" sink inserted into into a 30" cabinet, so the framing requirements should not be as stringent. Plus, the methodology there was to combine two cabinets together....See MorePrep sink to compliment farmhouse main sink?
Comments (3)I don't like Corian. My sinks don't feel like plastic or corian. Yes, it is a composite material, but I'm not sure somebody would walk up to it and say "ooouuhhgg it's composite." They look metallically, silvery gray and wear like iron. If your mindset is that composite equals fake, then they aren't for you. Frankly, sometimes composite materials are better, IMHO, than natural. YMMV. And this is coming from someone who makes the huge majority of her food from scratch with organic and locally-sourced ingredients so natural matters to me. My cabinets were made by Cornerstone Cabinetry, a one-man shop in Buckley. His quote equaled or was better price wise and included much more than quotes I received elsewhere for semi-custom cabinets. My cabs were made without fillers and included end panels without extra charge. I received personal attention, hand holding, and patience with last minute changes as the cabs were being made that I doubt you'd receive from a big box store or many other places. After experiencing a custom shop and products, I can't believe I would have been happy with anything else....See MoreIKEA BODBYN cabinet with Rohl RC3018 farmhouse sink
Comments (10)@ Susan... thats really a shame, I'm so sorry you returned it. Did you see the link I previously posted in this thread? Our sink is a Kohler Whitehaven 36" (also an undermount and its literally 150 lbs), the sink needs supports built for it like the link I provided above. Its currently sitting in my IKEA farmhouse cabinet base and my countertops are scheduled to be installed next week. So I'm confused as to why they told you that. Do you have a picture of the Rohl sink? I'm curious to see why the countertop installers said it couldn't be done. Did you go back and talk to cabinet people? I'm sorry to ask so many questions its just that it seems like you got some shady news from some lazy countertop installers....See Moredemill66
