Will a Farmhouse Sink fit in an Ikea Akrum 30" Sink Cabinet?
Comments (15)Yes, I realize that. I meant here on the Houzz site - or perhaps on the IKEA Hacker's site. It would be great to see exactly how to adjust the non-apron sink cabinet to fit an apron sink. We have to do it nonetheless, so I might take pictures and post if I can't find anything else. Our sink is not as heavy as the 30" sink inserted into into a 30" cabinet, so the framing requirements should not be as stringent. Plus, the methodology there was to combine two cabinets together....See Morefarmhouse sinks and frameless cabinets?
Comments (1)I have a whitehaven with Ikea cabs. It worked well with a regular 36 inch base and 18 inch doors. We added a filler on top of the doors to close the gap. I notice a slight color difference between the filler and the door, but no one else does and I could not settle for anything less than the beautiful 36" whitehaven....See MoreGap between farmhouse sink and cabinet
Comments (7)Back up and take a better picture. We can't see what is being shown here, and there is no scale. Take one from 5 feet, 3 feet, then 1 foot. Show the whole installation in the 5 foot one, and put something like a quarter in the 1 foot one to show scale. From what I can actually make out, it looks like maybe the sink itself has a bkt of a warp to it and he cut the opening straight rather than scribing it exactly. But, better pictures are needed....See MoreHelp please!! Farmhouse sink install?
Comments (41)The final outcome is the preferred method when doing a full overlay cabinet farm sink. This was just a kitchen designer not being in sync with the skills of her/your carpenter. Some farm sinks have the curved bottoms and since every sink is different, there's not a standard template to use....so you have to scribe it the best you can. You can definitely do it without a panel but you need REALLY REALLY experienced craftsmen to do it! Even then, no guarantee it will fit perfectly. But my main point here is, it can be done with or without the panel and the kitchen designer should always consider WHO is doing the install and their skill level. I prefer to use 'apron front' sinks that cover up the cutout. OP, your sink now looks great...and is installed as it should be. :-)...See Moredemill66
