I would consider 4 chairs and a round table in front of the fireplace...it is not evident what you use the room for..since it is so close to the obviously used room behind ...i might think of a more purposeful use for the room

Depending on the size of your family this could be a music room...game room...or a reading room for instance...

This room is just used as a sitting room when company comes over. It opens up to the left into my kitchen, and the kitchen is open to my dining room. My family room is in the back with a TV so I don't want a tv in this room.

I like btydvn's comment about potentially having 4 chairs around a table. If you like having a sofa in there for guests, what do you think about getting one that is smaller and with narrow legs? It would make the space feel a lot more open and your eyes wouldn't get stuck on the current sofa right when you enter the house.

Yes I like both suggestions. If I do get a smaller sofa, do you suggest I keep the same layout with the smaller couch facing fireplace? I appreciate your help.

Yes, having the couch face the fireplace seems to be the best option for the flow of the room.
