Hmm, Gail, as a money clip, that’s an idea! And I have a money clip I could glue it on. But, he uses a wallet, so he probably wouldn’t use one. But it makes me think, I wonder if it could be sort of embedded into a the outside or inside of a wallet?

If you don't think he'd want to carry it around or wear it, what about having a little trophy made with it mounted....NYC Best Info Officer or something similar engraved. Or...does he wear caps? You could have it made into a pin (or just glue the pin hardware (?) on the back of it and pin it to a baseball cap.

The wallet is a great idea, I don't know how it's done, but found this, so there must be a way to do it. What a great gift! I don't know who would do this type of thing? In the pic it is still in the money clip, but maybe they could embed it into a wallet as well.

eta: if he golfs, he might be just as likely to use it as a marker without the added spike. One of my cool markers is a penny that was coated with silver and mounted on a spike, from a charity tournament sponsored by Oneida Silversmiths.

As I opened the refrigerator this morning, my eye fell on another idea: this bottle opener my cousin’s husband made.

It’s wood, and has a space routed where he screwed in a penny that grabs the cap! See that slightl-different-colored circle above the penny? That’s a thin veneer over a magnet that holds the cap so it doesn’t fall on the floor, and that holds the bottle opener to the refrigerator.

The token is just a tad bigger than the penny, so I can’t just switch it out. But maybe I could ask him to either make another, or route the space a bit more to accommodate the token? But that would weaken the sides of the opener. Hmm, he might have to make a new one that’s slightly bigger all around. Might have to save it for next year, then.

If he has a dresser or desk at home you could always frame. I purchased this cameo as is. It sits on my vanity in the master bedroom. I'm going to frame a pin that belonged to my mother. I had to lay it down to avoid reflections.

I gave my dad a token once and just put it in a jeweler's ring box. He displayed in on a bookshelf open with the box open and the token standing in the ring slot. You could do that and let him decide luggage tag, bottle opener, useful vs display, etc.

You can do personalized paperweights, i.e. they put a keepsake inside resin paperweight. Lots on etsy.

On the other hand, why doesn't he carry a key ring? Seems like that could make a very nice one.

My DH has a few things like that he uses as ball markers or when he plays poker (card covers).

Nosoccermom and Allison, DH is an avowed minimalist. He carries his car key and nothing else. He actually would be less than thrilled with a framed token, which had been my first thought. But I really like that framed cameo, Allison, very pretty!

Know what he’d really do? Remove the token from the frame and try to use it on his next trip! Or trade it in for his metrocard lol

Lascatx, as usual the simplest is probably the best. I’ll dig out a fancy-schmancy ring box and give that to him. He‘ll get a kick out of it, and appreciate the appropriate re-use of a ring box.
