I think they'll be fine over your island. They're really pretty.

So I’m guessing by the picture that your ceilings are 10’? That’s 120”. Island countertop is approx 36” and bottom of pendants should be 30-36” above the countertop. That leaves you with 48” for pendants. I actually think the issues with the pendants that you have pictures is that they are visually top heavy (where the wood part is) so they may give an illusion that that are hung too high even when they are at a height that you aren’t going to hit your head on. If the bottom of the glass is at 72” then that wood part is going to be hanging approx. 84-86” off the ground. You could mock up paper versions of the pendants (of their exact dimensions) and hang them from string taped to the ceiling. I think with so much “air space” that an all over “beefier” pendant might be a better choice.

Valerie do you have any good suggestions along this style? These darn pendants are giving me a lot of stress :)

I get it, these pendants will be a style statement that affects your whole kitchen. That said, I can’t recommend a precise fixture since I can’t tell what style your house is, how far apart the fixtures have been roughed in, and the other metal finish selections in your new kitchen. I will say from my own kitchen; steer away from clear glass and open bulb fixtures. They are a nightmare to keep clean. I will clean mine (take down the globes, wash them in hot soapy water, dry them, put them back up) and they only stay pretty for about 1 week. Cooking oils + dust + clear glass = no fun. Also, the more pendants you have, the simpler they should be. Try to think if it as an art installation that will provide the surface of your island with some needed task lighting. If you have proper coverage with can lights around the room, these pendants don’t need to shine light all around the room. Type in “cone pendant” “globe pendant” into Houzz kitchens.

Also, if the place you get them from accepts returns, you can always get them and see how they look in the space and return them if you don't like them!

ok - so this is the fixture that we have and are putting over the dining table that is in the great room. Our design concept is not contemporary, nor is it rustic - definitely not fancy either. Not sure if this helps or changes anyone's mind. This is not my home - stock picture of the fixture. trying to find something that coordinates but don't like the pendants that are in this same line.

Those gold ones are in the 2016 Parade of Homes house by Cody Craig Custom Homes in Lubbock, TX. The pic is here on Houzz. No info given about what lights they are, but perhaps the builder could direct you to where to find them.
