Marble question... would you do this? Piecing together sections?
Comments (4)If it were me, I'd jump on it...not caring if it had a line or two, heck it's recycled! I too drool over marble but since we aren't keeping this house it's not in the new kitchen budget (unless I find a deal like yours). About 20 years ago I purchased a 9 foot marble bar from a salvage yard. It was fabricated into 2 sections with sink cut outs, the cost was about 300, polished but not installed. I'd probably make a paper templete to see if it would work for the kitchen then call around for prices. If not then do the vanity thing! Great find! Now I'm drooling! Comments (18)That last door is beautiful. While I usually agree with not calling attention to a garage door, your garage is going to be prominent regardless of what you do. I think your idea to have some windows will dress them up, but I wouldn't paint them a color lighter than the house color. Maybe some kind soul would photoshop both plain and paned doors for you onto your plan. Here are some before and after pics. I don't think the plain doors are any less noticeable: I think the ones above might be better painted a solid color. Not the greatest paint color choices to my eye, but I think the doors look better than the originals - I might have chosen a different style, however. And if you went with that last entry door and left it wood toned, these would look terrific, I think....See MoreDo these tiles go together - floor and wall?
Comments (20)it's a beautiful tile. you haven't said how large your bathroom is. if you're floor is only 20 sq feet, it might be fine. If you have a very large floor space, it's going to be dizzying to look at. use that tile behind a vanity, on the shower floor or in a niche. for the bathroom floor, go w/the same wall tile or something else like I've shown you. this one is really pretty for the shower. you could even do this tile outside the shower on the floor or what about this one? https://www.flooranddecor.com/marble-stone/nova-dolomite-brass-polished-marble-mosaic-100654433.html#start=11 or, how about this carrara herringbone? do it with a white grout like shown. less busy looking https://www.flooranddecor.com/stone-decoratives/carrara-white-herringbone-marble-mosaic-931100243.html#start=57 https://www.flooranddecor.com/porcelain-tile/calacatta-laganza-porcelain-mosaic-100836998.html#q=porcelain%2Bwater%2Bjet&search-button=&lang=default&start=2...See MoreDo these tiles go together?
Comments (16)I do like a penny tile - very tricky install - tiler needs to be meticulous - you don't want to "see" the sheets - it needs to blend just right. This is not what you want. Whether penny or hex - a lighter gray with a contrasting grout would be nice. You don't have to do a super dark grout unless you like the drama. Here is a hex we did ( If my memory is correct it was 2" ) . For a shower pan - I do like them as well, as long as you get a good quality piece. I had a Corian one once and loved it! There are several composite ones out there so you can get some colors. A good contractor should never be bothered by a customer asking a question or wanting to know the process. It is better when everyone is on the same page. Good luck!...See Morecatbuilder
