Comments (18)The floor looks light brown on my monitor, greyISH not overly grey. Only you can tell how grey or not in person. I think they go together. There is enough contrast and the tones seem correct together on my monitor. (And whether it's a trend or not, the people who put grey floors in an entire house in 2017 or whenever, are not ripping them out for a while unless they are foolish.) I had ebonized floors in my last house (black, and shiny as well.). Yes it showed dirt and dust readily. But guess what? Whether it shows or not it is still there. We dust mopped it a lot, it was not a big deal. We just got back from a vacation and there were four kids between one and five and it was a beach house. We swept the kitchen twice a day, and we were on vacation. It really took no time at all. And those floors were sand colored. Nothing showed at all. But if you are barefoot who wants to walk around on crumbs anyway?...See MoreDo these items go together.
Comments (21)Your choices are like the jewelry chest in your bedroom. Feminine and pretty and sparkly, and all jumbled together in an undifferentiated mass that shows off none of them to an advantage. If you want that sparkly silver statement necklace to look great, you wear it with that solid gray turtleneck sweater, not the Fair Isle patterned one. You also don’t add 2-3 more statement necklaces to that turtleneck. Statement choices need the balance of a background that supports them. Not more choices that compete with them. Editing out things is hard when you love it all. That’s what separates the detached pro from the emotionally attached homeowners. You would really benefit from working with a good designer....See MoreDo wood and marble go together?
Comments (9)Inverting a normal look (wood on the walls and stone on the floor) in a WET environment is a very tricky thing to get RIGHT. The 'norm' is wood on the floor (outside the bathroom btw) and stone or tiles on the walls. This is what Joe Schmoe will expect. To flip this look is a great twist on a traditional look....but it can go horribly wrong without the talents of an avant garde designer with a nose for twisting the norm. What I do know is this: the vast majority of men LOVE the look of wood (not all...but most). So they try to put it EVERYWHERE. And that gets weird. And heavy. And extremely difficult to deal with/live with. Be VERY aware of what you are trying to do. A farmhouse look is sheet vinyl (peeling and faded please) with 50's tiles (pink or orange) on the wall right to the ceiling. Germany loved these green porcelain tiled glazed ceramic tiles. Farm houses throughout Germany have these olive green tiles throughout the space dating from the 1820's or so. Or you have slabs of chipped slate (stuff you found in the fields...aka field stone) on the floors with huge grout lines + some sort of tile on the walls...or just white washed wattle and daub....See MoreRelated Professionals
