I couldn't decide which one of these to post so I just did both. I like the first one because you can see the lanterns better, second one because of the towering trees.

And then there's this lantern picture. ( :

Was surprised that these monkeys were famous even in Japan. The ones on the second plate.

I didn't realize that there were such big trees in Japan. I guess I think of it more as a densely populated country than one with tracts of forest land. Very pretty.

DawnInCal, this was in the mountains. The town reminded me a little of Colorado. It was beautiful. The walk to the shrine was amazing. Pictures don't do it justice.
