Need help choosing Wall Micro/Convection Oven combo - Thermador?

Would like a microwave/(opt)speed oven on top and standard convection oven below (but not anything with steam).

Thermador has the closest to what we're looking for with either a straight micro or speed oven above and the convection oven (with rotisserie that we'll probably never use) below. I see that it heats up to 550! Also quite expensive, naturally. Does the quality justify the price?

Bosch is similar but I know nothing about them and their website is awful. Looks like maybe the Benchmark is a speed oven and the 800-/500-series are simple microwaves up top. And the ovens only heat to 450. But otherwise is this a good product?

Miele does not have the two-in-one unit. Could get a micro/speed oven on top and convection below, I think, but would have two separate control panels and unsure of spacing requirements between the two.

GE Monogram is the same with individual Advantium (speed) oven above and they have a drawer that can go in between to store all the accessories. (I assume the price is going to be the lowest in this bunch and with what we're spending on the range and hood, maybe this is where we go lite)

KA (like the one we currently own and loved for 12+ years) is out due to the chipping blue enamel issue with the current models.

What do ya'll think?

I’m in your situation. I’ve been wanting an Advantium forever. Now that it really is time to remodel I’ve done more research. Sadly, I learned there is a required minimum floor-to-bottom of unit clearance that I think makes it impractical to stack with another larger oven. I’m only 5 feet and can’t imagine accessing the top oven in a stack.

A salesman steered me toward a Bosch double oven with one of these mysterious speed ovens that you referenced. I am not finding overwhelmingly favorable reviews so it might not matter anyway. Wish I could help but will follow this thread in case someone can aid us both!

As our unit originally was installed, the microwave oven part of the unit is on the top, and the wall oven is on the bottom. When we redo this we'll have the wall oven where it is now, with an open shelf over it that will have a stand-alone microwave oven (not built-in) in it. So yes, this is commonly done, a stand-alone microwave is put on a shelf above a wall oven. Putting in a double wall oven in place of the wall oven/dead microwave unit and continuing to use the countertop microwave oven is another option, but we seldom if ever have use for 2 regular ovens so the counter space is more valuable to us. If you're only staying in your house for a few years, the wall oven/microwave oven combo is probably fine. If you don't know how long you'll be there, then think about which will fail first in the combo unit, and which of the combo is much less expensive and as useful if bought as a free-standing unit *smile*. -Roger

I decided to change and go with option 2. I wound up looking at the user manuals at the different pre set cooking differences on the steam ovens and the main ones are still there on the pro grand steam.

I have written a number of blogs on Miele, because they have such a good reputation with their products. In fact my partner has a number of their appliances and swears by them. Last year I wrote a blog (thereÂs a link below) on one of their more innovative products which they call the Miele MasterChef. What they've done is combine a microwave oven with a convection speed oven. It can be used as a microwave to do the normal defrosting and reheating and essentials like popping popcorn, which is about all the use we manage to get out of OUR microwave! It can also be used as a convection oven for roasting and baking, while browning foods as one would in any other oven. ThereÂs a lot to like about it, and if our kitchen had room for a separate oven (we are very much stuck with a 30" stove), it is one I would give some serious thought to. My house came with a (replaced-for-sale) cheapest possible GE micro-oven combo. It's about 2 years old now. I wouldn't do it myself, but for what it's worth, it's the best *%#@ oven I've ever had. Not even convection. Good microwave, too. (I'm not saying this is the way to go--just that the cheap ones aren't necessarily bad if you don't mind the plasticky look and no-frills oven.) I really like Steph's setup above--that is what I would do if I had the choice. (I mean WHEN I have the choice--I haven't stopped planning). I, too am paranoid about having half of the unit die. Not terribly paranoid as I haven't done my kitchen yet, but I don't think I'd build it that way.

The LG LWS3063ST 30 in. Single Electric Wall Oven is Consumer Reports top-rated single oven. The LG LWC3063ST 30 in. Electric Convection Wall Oven with Built-In Microwave adds the microwave oven above. The LG Studio LSWC307ST 30 in. Electric Convection Wall Oven with Built-In Microwave appears similar.

I just purchased a Bosch convection/microwave. However, I was also looking at a Thermador, but I had a size issue. As you probably know, Bosch owns Thermadore, but I don't know if they are made at the same factories. Bosch/Thermadore does have preview centers (experience centers) where you can learn all about both products but they do not sell them at these locations.
