Looking for good wall oven/micro-convection combo

Need to find a good wall oven and a micro/convection to stack above. Really like the Kitchenaid combination oven but very concerned about the problems people have mentioned on this Forum. Can anyone recommend a good alternative.?

I have written a number of blogs on Miele, because they have such a good reputation with their products. In fact my partner has a number of their appliances and swears by them. Last year I wrote a blog (thereÂs a link below) on one of their more innovative products which they call the Miele MasterChef.

What they've done is combine a microwave oven with a convection speed oven. It can be used as a microwave to do the normal defrosting and reheating and essentials like popping popcorn, which is about all the use we manage to get out of OUR microwave! It can also be used as a convection oven for roasting and baking, while browning foods as one would in any other oven. ThereÂs a lot to like about it, and if our kitchen had room for a separate oven (we are very much stuck with a 30" stove), it is one I would give some serious thought to.

What problems have people posted about the Kitchenaid combo oven?
I have the Whirlpool combo unit that is virtually identical to the Kitchenaid unit, and am very happy with it. It works well, the controls are mostly intuitive, and the two units look like they belong together. All of the options I looks at with separate units stacked above one another, looked like separate units stacked above one another.

We have the Panasonic convection microwave and the Breville convection toaster oven. Our main oven is a GE Monogram convection oven. 1. The Breville toaster oven is the best toaster oven we've ever owned. During Christmas visits my adult children dubbed it the magic oven. It toasts bagels perfectly because toaster settings can be customized. It bakes frozen pizza well enough that it can be considered more than barely edible in a pinch. It crisps homemade pizza to perfection. I have convection roasted game hens in it and cooked tuna to medium rare in minutes after searing it's edges on my cooktop. Overall it's one of the best small appliances I've ever owned. 2. The Panasonic does all of the above, has a larger capacity EXCEPT it is not a toaster. We toast a lot of things that wouldn't fit in a regular slotted toaster so toaster ovens are a must for us. We live in Florida so we don't need two full size ovens. We also (contrary to most people, it seems) use a microwave oven as a full partner in our array of cooking appliances. (I don't know if it is still available but the Microwave Gourmet cookbook by Barbara Kafka is a great resource for fully utilizing a microwave oven. She has such great recipes that I often adapt the seasonings for use in a regular oven also). Thus, we are happy to have the Panasonic with the dual use capability. Although we did our installation several years ago and I can't remember what we paid, I'm sure the $200 price quote for a Panasonic trimkit is way too much. You should check on line to try to get a better deal. HTH.

Thank you both for your thoughts. I think you are right. Black and stainless look really nice together and the wall oven does go with the cooktop. I am trying not to test my husband's generosity by going overboard and trying to be sensitive to his needs (even if he really NEVER cooks!) because he likes the look of stainless. We have a 25% chance of the Thermador having problems, but I guess that is the chance we can take. The appliance store will fully warranty it for 5 years for $29. It seems like a good compromise to get such a nice unit for the money. I spent the last several days researching lots of brands and just getting a micro/wall oven combo (Bosch, GR profile or Electrolux) is going to be 3k. I almost sprang for it, but it is just hard to justify. I think I am going to just do this and move on to the next decision, like our countertops. We found incredible custom cabinets on Craigslist that were built 3 years ago by a cabinetmaker and removed by the new owners. We only paid $1,500 and they are all wood construction with dovetailed drawers. So this savings is going to allow me to do a really nice remodel for a reasonable $25,000, which in our neighborhood is all we really should spend to keep our investment. Thank you! I am calling with my credit card this morning to just go ahead and buy the Thermador and keep my fingers crossed that it works. :)

dermnp - The countertop is quartz - Hanstone Bavaria. The paint is SW Svelte Sage. It is a cooler green, but yes, we do like it. It took a little getting used to, but now I'm really happy with the choice. I know it sounds crazy, but I don't even have the details on the backsplash. While our entire house was torn up with remodeling, both my parents were taken quite ill. I have a friend that does tile work, and as he knew I was in way over my head at the time, he just kind of took care of it for me. He showed me his choices, and I went along with it. I've never regretted it. rkb21 - As I love to cook and bake a LOT, I spent a lot of time shopping and choosing appliances. I actually considered some of the higher end models, but after carefully comparing the features and price, I bought the KA. The micro/convection is fantastic. It heats to 350 degrees in less than 5 minutes. Crisps and bakes like a champ. LOVE the soften/melt mode and steam cook features on the microwave. The larger oven bakes 3 big pans of cookies at a time and they are all perfect. At Christmas time, I hosted a group of friends and we baked 125 dozen cookies in one day. They were amazed at what this baby could turn out. With the large window in the door, my family thinks is better than watching HD TV. Good luck with your choices!

The Kitchenaid combo has had problems with a thermal fuse triping during the cleaning cycle, requiring a service call. I didn't know Whirlpool makes an identical oven but I guess that's not too surprising since Whirlpool apparently owns Kitchenaid. I also appreciate the look of the Kitchenaid as it is one unit and it does seem as though it would be easy to use. The Meile masterchef microwave paired with a convection wall oven would cost more than double that of the Kitchenaid. I will take a look at the Whirlpool oven. Thanks for the tip.

I have a kitchenaid wall oven (KEBS107SS) with an electrolux micro/convection oven (E30M065GSS) above it. For some reason, the matching kitchenaid microwave/convection combo was really expensive so I ordered a sharp. The sharp oven was on backorder for quite some time so I went with an electrolux. My understanding is that sharp makes most of these ovens so you might as well go for that if you can get one. I also read that kitchenaid resolved the issues with the self cleaning mechanism. I think they are a reputable brand and you should have no problem if you choose them.
