Refrigerator side panels help
Comments (8)Counter depth isn't a substitute for a built in, and 1'' of difference in the side panel isn't going to give you a built in look. The doors stoll have to sit prou to open rather than in plane with the base cabinets like a built in. You only have to look at some pics of already installed ones to see that. The additional depth side panels are more gabout giving the adjacent countertops room to die into the panel than faking built in. However, if that's what you want, the KD should order you the custom depth panels and have you pay just the upcharge difference that you would have paid if they were ordered originally. Depending on the design, you may have to hold off installing one or more cabinets until the panels arrive. They are too big to go UPS, so even in the quickest semi custom line, I'd expect a rush order to be 3 weeks at the fastest. And the KD should cover the trip charge for the additional visit needed....See MoreAny pretty but functional ideas for paneled side of island?
Comments (12)Here are pictures of the back of my island. My kitchen is relatively small, so I couldn't take a picture far enough away to make it look beautiful, it is what it is, but I have 3 panels on the back of the island. Each of those doors open with a push lock, and each section is 4" deep. I keep all of my spices, dog food cans, tuna/salmon cans and lots of other stuff in this space. The no hardware look was actually suggested by the granite templater who was very impressed by these compartments, vowing to recrete them in his own kitchen. Comments (10)thanks everyone for chiming in. A small commitment, the front side! Never considered that, Wilson853! Agree with "busymom"--work with accents rather than making a huge change. Right now, the painted island is what we might call a trend but it has some classic appeal. But I know me--will I want to stay with this color scheme for 5-10 years? I don't see us moving as we've downsized and built a home to fit our retirement needs. I really like some of the photos I've seen of painted center island. Instead, I think I'll have the great room re-painted from builder beige and see how that affects the space. Thank you so much. You have all helped me sort this out! I did paint the guest bathroom cabinet and it looks sensational! That's how I caught "the painting bug."...See MoreNeed help with ideas on how to fix a recently renovated kitchen
Comments (35)Last time before he retires and then you move to a final (haha - because that doesn't exist) home? Or last home you're going to live in it after he retires? I'm getting into the weeds because transitioning to retirement is challenging for everyone and this house reno is just a blip on what's to come. Honestly you should just live with it, let him retire and smooth things out before you decide where you're going to stay, either here or elsewhere....See Moremama goose_gw zn6OH
