What do you do with damp towels/ wash cloths?
Comments (6)You have many more towels than I do so this may not be helpful. When I come home from the gym I put the towels in the dryer for a few minutes, then I put them in a place away from the other clothes to wait until I have a load of similar items. This minimizes stinky wet towels sitting around and helps keep the germs contained. While I use my bathroom towels more than once I don't like to use gym towels again - never know what is growing on them. If you do hang them up wet be sure there is adequate ventilation in the room. Not just to the rest of the house but to the outside. For drying clothes I use a drying rack I got at QVC. It is called the Hangaway drying rack and it can hold a lot of clothes and towels while still leaving room for them to dry out. It might work for you depending on how much room you have....See MoreI want to go 'Towel Bar Free' in Bathroom
Comments (122)Ha, Stinky! My DH is..."slow to change". He does the exact same thing in the exact same order every morning and gets all out of sorts when he is forced to make accommodations. I've only been married 4 years, but I've learned it is much easier to change the environment than try to force change by direction. He just digs in his heels. Example: about 6 months ago I wanted to hire housekeeper. DH said it was unnecessary. I dropped the idea for a few months. I then started talking about how the dog got lonely during the day when we are at work and how nice it would be if someone would come keep her company. And now, we have a housekeeper who walks the dog..! I don't think I'm being sneaky or devious, but now we are both happy. Sometimes a different approach is needed. He may say the same things about me. But anyway, that's a long explanation of why simply telling DH that he is making a mess by wadding up the towels on the bars won't work. So having hooks may be my way around it. Back to topic, though, I was thinking of something like these from RH? Do they look like the towel would stay on well?...See MoreWhere do you put paper towels, wet dish towels, cutting boards,
Comments (35)Paper Towels: On a vertical stand next to my sink. I like having them handy. It is an inexpensive one from Target. In the past, I had them hanging under the upper cabinets. After we remodeled, I needed a new solution. I didn't think the countertop one would be stable, but it is and I really like it. I enjoying being able to grab the whole roll and take it to another room if I need to. Wet dish towels: I have a Rev-a-shelf hanging rod thing on the inside of one of my cabinet doors under the sink. I only use it occasionally though. Usually I have a dishtowel folded in half laying/hanging right on the counter where I stand at the sink. I use it for drying my hands, fruit, dishes, etc. throughout the day. It dries quickly. I have a dish drainer on one side of my double sink, so anything I hand wash usually just dries in there. If I've entertained and have extra hand washing with more dishes on a towel on the counter, then those go on the racks under the sink until they dry. Sometimes if I have one that is really wet and yucky, I just throw it on the tile floor in my laundry room (closet). It is the only tile I have in the whole house (I like to take advantage of it.) :) Cutting boards: In a vertically divided cabinet in one of my lowers. Plastic bags: I donate them to a food bank, so I throw them in the trunk of my car until I see my friend who takes them for me. :)...See MorePaper Towels--To Those With Built In Holders
Comments (87)@rr4580 Mine is a full size trash pull-out, 13 gallon can, with paper towel above. The opening for the towel holder is 5.5 x 12. The problem I found is that paper towel rolls have grown in diameter since 2011, so they no longer will go in my holder until they have been partly used. But my holder was very rudimentary, it's one of those metal springy paper towel holders, installed sideways in a recess that would have been a drawer. A better design like firstmmo's could allow a modern roll. There are about two inches from the top of the garbage can to the top of the pull out cabinet face, so you could definitely get another inch there if you are doing custom cabinets....See Moreesmithpa
