Business Name Sounding Board?
Comments (7)Hi Ttodd, You are so lucky you have a dh who wants you to " 'find your bliss' ". I have a good one too, even though we can really get on each others last nerve when we work together too long at the store. lol! I stumbled upon gw looking for a forum for business owners in the home decor industry. All googles kept leading to this forum that I am now hooked on! I opened my home decor store because... I love design/home decor 2) I have a good eye for color etc. 2) Have experience in management/buying/design through previous jobs 3) Lost my job as an accessory/upholstery buyer and needed income! I have no regrets (yet!) It has been an exhilarating and terrifying ride! Four days off in 10 months....all extra $ right back into the business....a lease signed with a developer who has gone out of business.....the learning curve of IT (how the heck do I set up a credit card terminal and how do I encrypt customers account #'s??).... Those headaches are balanced with the ability to be creative in my career and meeting and working with my customers. I am based in a small town in the Midwest in a strip mall. I am between an Ulta, Kohl's, Pet smart...all the usual strip mall suspects:) We sell all things home and start our price point at 99 cents and go up to a couple of thousand for special order upholstery. Two things off the top of my head I wish I had done differently.... Gathered email address from day one for a mailing list. Created my own free website using a template (Wix, etc) rather than paying someone to do it for me. Anyway, just wanted to wish you luck and say I'm rooting for you. Later I will email you privately with my website and you can look it over if you would like. I don't sell on the site, it's just informational only. I am happy to be a sounding board for you if needed! deedee...See MoreNot SF related-tips for keeping house when busy busy!!!!
Comments (6)Don't put anything off! DH and I used to let the kids trash their bedrooms and then we'd b*tch and moan but not really make them do much of anything. A week before school started, I deep cleaned their bedrooms. Threw out everything that was broken or really old. I organized everything---bought them some extra plastic stacking storage bins for the closets, etc. NOW---religiously---every night they are expected to clean up and put everything away. DH and I have been really good about not letting them say "oh, can't I do it tomorrow?" We don't care if they make a big mess when playing but we just remind them that whatever is taken out HAS to be put away that night before bed. I do the same for myself! I do not let dirty dishes sit in the sink overnight. Sometimes after dinner, I just don't feel like doing them, so I will stack them in the sink. But come 9-10 pm I make sure to thouroughly clean up the ktichen---load the dishwasher, run it, wipe down the stove, counters, etc. I just FEEL better when it's clean when I go to bed---and wake up, of course! The other thing I struggle with is laundry---namely, folding it and putting it away. I am TERRIBLE about leaving the clothes in the dryer and just getting them out of there as I need them. What I've done in the last few months is to sort/fold them on the couch while watching tv with DH. Then I have a distraction while I sort and fold, which helps immensely. I make different piles--ie, my closet, DH's t-shirt drawer, DD's room, SS's room, etc. We have all hardwood floors and I notice I really need to sweep every other day. Frankly, every day would probably be better. Stuff gets tracked in, the kids have sand in their shoes from the playground, etc. I try to sweep at least every other day. It is hard! I feel your pain. I am always amazed at how the house can from looking GREAT to a disaster zone in a matter of hours! It's frustrating!...See MoreAn eye for an eye
Comments (64)In Luke and Matthew the conception of Jesus is the virginal conception. In Matthew the wording that Joseph did not have sexual relations with Mary until after the birth of Jesus literally means Mary was not a life long virgin. Jews of that period other than sone ofcthe Essenes did not espouse virginity as a physical social or spiritual goal. The term immaculate conception refers to Mary conceived in the womb of her mother Anna without original sin. Anna and Joachim had sexual relations in order to conceive Mary after years of infertility. This story is not in the Bible. Much of it comes from the Protevangelion of James. The dogma developed later in the Middle Ages but was not made official until the mid 19th century. Many people confuse the virginal conception with the immaculate conception. Comments (85)Sorry, I'll be no help about your seeds, Orooj. I'm sure seeds do differently based on weather conditions and locations. There are seeds that I winter sow here and I start sowing them in January, but did you use winter sowing techniques ... and the other issue would be if these were seeds that were okay with those January temperatures? ...aside from that, I was one of the people waiting for the bingo word "queen" - so hooray - almost bingo for me! Thanks again for bee-ing our hostess. Jeanne...See MoreElmer J Fudd
