no 2 stories, no valted, no trays ceilings!
Comments (25)Tinker, we have 10 ft ceilings in living, dining and foyer of our house we are trying to sell now. 8 ft with trays in bedrooms and vaulted in study. Kitchen and bathrooms just 8ft. The house we just built also has 10 ft. in same rooms and 9 ft. everywhere else with trays and a vaulted ceiling in study also. (Coffered in dining room). We love 9 so much more than 8. If it helps I saw the website for your house and I love your living room so much I have saved the pictures! I'm hoping one day we can changed our white built-ins for something like yours. Warm and cozy rooms despite the size! I don't think I could live without 10ft. in main rooms after having them so long and 9 would be my limit. Hope this helps....See Moreadvice on raising an 8' ceiling to a tray ceiling of 9'6"?
Comments (10)It depends on a lot of factors including labor costs in your area and the whole approach. In a relatively straightforward case, for a 25x30 living dining room situation, we can assume that it is not more than half the house, that it is a gabled roof, that there is attic space above the room, that the electrical work is straightforward, there isn’t a air conditioning unit or ceiling mounted HVAC above the space, we are looking at about $10000 including the permits, engineering, and general contracting to manage the project. As you can see there are a lot of things that are site specific to determine pricing and that the only way to get an estimate is to bring someone in to see your specific situation and to be open to options presented....See Moreceiling fan in slanted tray ceiling?
Comments (17)yes you can,,,and depending how long the rod is, you may need to lengthen it. as for painting, perhaps this will give you some ideas. trim work is very nice looking for the transition from the wall to the ceiling joint. both of these are beautiful. with and without trim so you can see. and dark and light colors I hate the brown, but gives you an idea. this ceiling doesn't seem to be as high as yours what does look good is wood ceiling inside the tray imagine wood like this. gorgeous. and then paint the slanted walls another option there are a bazillion pics of different ways to do these. just google "tray ceilings with fans" or 'tray ceilings" or look on Pinterest....See Moretray ceiling narrow hallway
Comments (20)It is a hallway. A conduit to get you from Point A to Point B. Not a place that you linger in and admire architecture. It’s roughly 3x6 with stone walls on each side. Are these real stone walls that rest on a foundation or a glued on wall treatment? What happens to the stone in the attic? Does it stop at the current ceiling height or continue into the attic? What happens when you raise the ceiling & how do you grow the stone to the height of the new raised ceiling? And given that the walls are stone, do you really think that this tiny 3 x 6 space needs more interesting stuff to look at during the 18 seconds it takes to pass thru there? With you neck craned up to admire the ceiling?...See MorePPF.
