Comments (5)If you want it flat for the future, then don't till it up. If you don' t ill it, then you don't have to be concerned about roots. If you have a low area, then you might need more soil. Usually I am tyrannically opposed to adding more soil, so you might be an exception. Normally people want to add topsoil for the heck of it. You actually have a low spot. I'd get as many eyes on it as possible to make sure you don't just transfer your low spot to your neighbor's yard. Sometimes you have to build a high spot on the edge of your property to avoid dumping your problem in his lap. High edges for drainage and/or swales between yards seems to be the standard now in new construction. If you till it, all you are doing is fluffing the soil. When you level the fluffy stuff, it will take up to 3 years to settle. It is impossible to perfectly flatten the sub soil profile to an even 6 inches deep with a tiller, so you end up with bumps under the soil. When the fluffy soil on top finally settles, it settles bumpy again. Just don't till it....See MoreHelp with Leveling/Flattening Floor

Comments (7)Do you have an unused area where you can just put them on the floor for a while? We had a rug we'd bought literally YEARS ago (I think about 10 years?) that, for some reason, we never got around to using where we'd planned to. it was rolled, shoved into a closet where it folded over on itself in a U. Well, about 2 weeks ago, I took it to the new house and unrolled it in one of the spare bedrooms. That poor rug--I figured it was a lost cause. Not just curling, but lumps and humps sticking up here and there, and the nap was sort of pulling apart so you could see the backing in spots. Well, it was a spare room, so I gave it a good vacuuming (hoping that would encourage it to lay flat--it didn't), and left it there. By the time we returned the next weekend, the rug was fine. Nice and flat, the nap had sorted itself out. It looks just fine....See MoreHow to fix carpet - flattened by furniture?
Comments (8)I have not tried this but our last carpet installers said this will work: put a towel on the floor heat iron steam the carpet through the towel And like magic it will come up. AGain - I have not tried it yet but plan on it. I'd test in a small spot on your carpet to make sure it will be okay (maybe in a closet?). Dorothy...See More- 7 years ago
