Comments (20)Paint the fence and gate black. I recently spray painted part of my mother's chain link fence and posts. It was very easy to do. Rustoleum spray paint. Give the gate a bit of a brush with a wire brush before painting. Downspouts dark brown so they don't contrast against the brick. This isn't a house for an elaborate driveway. Black asphalt will look just fine. I can't see enough of the house to see where a walkway would go so I won't comment on that. But again, nothing too patterned or colourful. I've seen too many "fancy" walkways that clash badly with the house's brick, although they probably looked great at the showroom or in a brochure. I'd stick with dark brown slabs. She can stain (not paint) the new brick to match the old brick. Stain can be custom tinted. https://romabio.com/faqs/#masonry What is the white box to the right of the driveway? Can it be painted to make it less obvious? After removing the evergreens, come back for advice on planting. For now, I'd remove the 3 sad shrubs in the middle of the grass....See MoreAdvice on brick fireplace - paint, white wash or German shmear?
Comments (13)Also try the paint samples near the hardwood floors. It's just as important for the color to coordinate with the floors as it is the fireplace. Paint a sample of the Gentle Cream, Muslin, and the Navajo White on the edge of a large white poster board. Then you can prop it up against the fireplace brick, your white moldings, the hardwood floors, and your rug/furniture. The white space around the colors will help you better visualize what it will look like without the reflection and contrast of your current wall color. It appears that any of those colors would work....See MoreSiding color and lime wash brick
Comments (6)Let me post a bunch of pics to see what you like. you said you're going to do the brick in white? How about a heavier coverage w/something like Romabio masonry ? I really like this, BUT, consider doing your dormers in a cedar shake instead of the current siding. YOu could also do a composite shake in any color. even a black or dark blue On this one I gave you the cedar shake dormers, a Dutch door in black, white brick, new light, address plaque and some plants. Consider redoing your flower beds w/something better looking, or at least give those shrubs a good pruning. For the trim around the roof, I like the black, but you could do white or some other color. ditto window trim This is a composite shake siding on a dormer, and it comes in all colors. If you did these in a dark charcoal, It would look similar to this color combo w/the white brick. The dark trim and copper accents look great w/the white brick. This one is similar to yours. look at how they redid the dormers. this is a bit more modern, but you'll get an idea of how your windows would look with dark trim. another example, This one they did Amazing Gray and Balboa Mist for the trim. **see the down spouts in the copper? Looks good.** I think I'd also have your current gutters/downspouts painted (they can spray these) in a copper tone, a bronze tone or maybe a black. If you like the white w/the gray color options: Limewashing would get you this coverage depending on the coverage and the exposed brick color, you could then try something like these colors and accessories: If keeping the brick, coordinating colors if the brick has a bit more orange to the color, any of these would look nice Iron Ore on the trim would get you this look w/the orange brick. the warm wood door pairs perfectly w/this. here's a before and after using the Romabio masonry....See MoreCris Hayter
