Choosing semi flush kitchen light fixture
I purchased this sconce to go over my kitchen sink but now I worry about finding a suitable overhead light that does not clash. I prefer a 3 light semi flush light that does not hang down too far. I absolutely love the light but the collection does not have a matching option. It is the Paxton from Pottery Barn. I will add that the glass bell does have a slight green tint to it...think Mason jar but not as dark.

Comments (2)On a flushmount fixture, the whole "rim" is touching the ceiling. There is no way for heat to escape, and you don't get any light shining straight up from the light bulb and then reflecting off of the ceiling and into the room. On a semi-flushmount, there is a stem of sorts and the "rim" is dropped down a few inches from the ceiling. Sometimes you can put a higher wattage bulb in this style because the heat can escape, and you get the bonus of bouncing light off of the ceiling. Flushmounts have the advantage of being less obtrusive; might be better in a hallway. Semi-flush might be better in a foyer or over an island....See Morehallways: recessed or semi-flush lights?
Comments (2)I love the light that recessed lights cast but nothing wrong ceiling mounts. Guess it depends on style and what really speaks to you. I don't see any sense in having a light hanging down and making you feel like you have to duck under it, at least not unless there's a peninsula or table under it. My ceilings are 8 feet, and my spouse and I are short, and I never even considered any hanging lights! Semiflush for sure, or even a decorative flushmount....See MoreAC inTN
4 years agoThat is actually the stock photo from Pottery Barn's website. I suppose you could put in any darn bulb you wanted to. But I also do not have your average cookie cutter white and grey kitchen...
I have a warm and inviting kitchen and a single bulb is all I need over the sink. The question was what 3-light fixture could I install in the center of the kitchen that would compliment the sconce.
It doesn't have to match just not clash. I like this but I cannot abide E12 bulbs.

4 years agoThank you RL, I appreciate your comments. The link you provided has a milky finish....I don't care for any white. I like this fixture but I read on reviews it casts a peachy light, I bought the matching dining room light on FB marketplace CHEAP...
