Master bedroom/bath color - SW sea salt, comfort gray conundrum
Comments (9)In my last home my entire family room and kitchen were painted SW CG and my master bathroom was SW SS. BOTH looked very blue in that space. In my new home I had a bedroom done SWSS. In this space it looks very GREEN. Its a beautiful color but I had thought it would be more blue. These two colors are very much affected by light and by yellow light. It completely changes them. I did the master bath in this home in SW Tradewind and I love it! There are so many colors of similar character to go with. A really really pretty color is VALSPAR SEA SALT BLUE. I think you need to make sample boards and try them out and decide of you want more blue more green or more gray. Excuse the paper shades on the window but this is the Tradewind in my new bath. Comments (1)It depends a lot on your natural and artificial light. We have a ton of natural light. We have cool-toned wall colors throughout our house. Downstairs we have SW Light French Gray, SW Monorail Silver, SW Silverpointe, and SW Crushed Ice. Our cabinet and trim color is SW Pearly White. We chose that because it’s a warmer white, and “reads” as bright white because of all the natural light shining in. It might be wrong in your rooms. Make sure all your lighting is installed and upgraded to nice bright LEDs, then you can judge your paint samples. SW Snowbound was our second choice....See MoreIn between SW Sea Salt and SW Filmy Green
Comments (18)I'm the OP. Just as an update, not that the info will help anyone else, but I ended up using SW Sea Salt, a 75% formulation, which looks extremely close to SW Sea Salt 100%. I got a sample of it and even though it was a bit bluer than I wanted, it is a very pretty color, and this is one of those situations where I could be happy with something that wasn't precisely what I had originally hoped for, and I am. (Also I was running out of time to make a color decision.) Thank you to all who generously gave such helpful information....See MoreSW Sea Salt - too blue!
Comments (3)if it only shifts blue in the evening, then changing bulbs could be a big help. Look for bulbs with a CRI (Colour Rendering Index) of 90+. This will help colours hold more true to their factual colour description. If the colour looks blue in the day, then either embrace the surprise or have a colour rethink,,, 🌈...See Moreingrid_vc so.
