Floors stained tomorrow. What should I know?
Comments (23)Thanks Lisa, Erin, Dianalo, Flwrs, and Nini. Marcolo--I still keep looking at my pics over and over again noticing how different my chosen Jac/Coffee Brown mix looks. I take it your floors aren't white oak. What are they? I don't know if I'd recognize a green undertone in wood or not. I hope mine doesn't have it. I could easily see reds or yellows, but didn't even think to look for greens. And LOL about the big bowl!...See MoreWhat semitransparent wood stain should I use for this deck
Comments (0)The wood on this deck is weathered and need protection. The wood itself has a reddish hue. I am not sure what semitransparent wood stain shade to use, while keeping the look classy. Comments (1)I always tell my clients to wait before doing anything major like flooring in a new house . How that kitchen functions for you will be a huge deciding factor IMO . I don’t see the whole space so can’t comment on the layout but honestly a non functional kitchen will make you nuts in no time .Do you love the cabinet color is it something you would have done if you had the choice? I know its a pain but flooring is a huge investment through a whole house so take your time....See MoreNeed advice: should I stain a wood desk the same color as furniture
Comments (7)I think you should try to match the rest of the bedroom furniture. However, getting colors to match can be difficult, because the wood of the desk may be different from the wood of the dresser which affects the Final Color. Moreover, even if the wood is the same, you don't know what color stain was used on the dresser. I suggest you use a gel stain which is thicker and less likely to drip and run. Start with a medium brown similar to your dresser. Check the color on the back of the desk for an idea of how it will look overall. Wipe off excess stain and let it dry. You can add a second coat if the color is too light, but be careful not to end up making the desk darker than you want. Note that I do not think all wood furniture in a room has to match. That is because wood is, to me, a neutral color. The pieces below are reddish-brown, dark brown and painted, but they work together because they are all have a similar classic design. The furniture design below is a mixture of styles and ages. Some of the wood is natural and other pieces painted....See MoreTeresa Lynch
